The soldiers look like Airfix, but the vehicles aren't.

The German holding the bazooka, for example, was in the pack of 48 WWII Wehrmacht infantry figures. I had that set, pacakged in the Normandy bunker diorama set. That set had a bunker with 2 large-caliber artillery pieces in a twin mount, made out of styrene, and a vacuform base representing a bluff above the Normandy beaches.

The GIs are familiar, too, I had those from the D-Day landing dio set. That set included a vacuform base depicting a section of beach with dragon's teeth, and also included a Sherman kit.

The vehicles in your pics, though, look like solid-cast plastic toys. I'm afraid I don't know who may have made them, they may have come from one of the many factories in Hong Kong, but I'm pretty sure they aren't Airfix.

Prost!

Well, after looking more closely at the pic of the underside of the halftrack, I'll say that that might be a scale model kit, rather than a purpose-made toy. Can you show us pics of the undersides of the armor and missile launcher, too? From the top, with the thick paint and the yellowed decal, they look like solid, colored plastic. But a shot of the underside might reveal more detail.

Prost!

I agree with Brad. The soldiers are first series Airfix German Infantry and US Marines. The German Infantry were soon replaced with the second series (which used the 1/32 set as a starting block), whilst the second series US Marines didn't arrive until much later on (again, based as a start on the 1/32 set).

The halftrack does look like a model kit, but by the looks of it, the King Tiger looks to be of a Hong Kong Special type piece. Not sure on the rocket launcher piece.

Hi,

the vehicles seem to be a mixture of at least Airfix and Roco models (those with roller wheels at the base).

Yes, I agree. I had a number of these items many, many years ago. Most of the tanks are basically 1/87th scale "MiniTanks" from RoCo of Austria. Aurora, a US model company, put out some copies of some early Roco items in some model sets. They had a "Rat Patrol" set that had re-molded Roco Jeeps and German tanks with a few figures and a vacuum formed base. There was also another set that had US and German tanks with some scenery items. Some of the vehicles, like the German SdKfz7 are 1/76th models from Airfix of England.

In the top view of the first posting, the figures are earlier versions from Airfix. I went through hundreds of those over the years!

Most of these items are either 1) poor models and 2) generally available on eBay, etc.

Hi Guys,

Took a look at the title and decided that it was wise to edit. Thanks for bring it up otherwise I would have missed it. Interesting looking rocket launchers etc. Where were they found?
