A True Comparison (1 Viewer)

. (Aside from Gebhard saying the French 12 pdr isn't as good as the British or Russian sets, I am still thrilled with it :D)

Terry

The French 12 ponder is one of my Favorite pieces but like my much beloved Bavarians IMO they are not up to the current level currently being produced by First Legion .They are now over two years old and IMO First Legion has made significant improvements with every subsequent release to date . Which has IMO left the earlier releases looking rather dated , This does not mean that I still don't enjoy them quite the contrary ;) . I'm sure I'm not the only First Legion collector to see the vast improvements that have been made and if you like the piece you have you should give the newer releases a try , I'm sure you will be very satisfied . The new Russians are Fantastic and IMO a close second to the Prussian release . If you are interested in the Old Guard the painting on them may be the best to date ..... IMO of course . I would like to hear what Matt and other collectors who have a sampling of the Napoleonics think , I'm I close or way off . :) All the best Gebhard

I agree completely. There's a huge improvement both in sculting and painting since they have released the french artillery set. If you want to rank it for the french guys it would be something like that :

french artillery set < french line infantry < Murat, Cambronne < Guard chasseurs < Old guard grenadiers.

However the french artillery guys are for me superior in quality to other manufacturer offerings especially the drummer and the cannon itself, and for the price it was a steal.

The only release I will not collect from FL is most probably the bavarian guys since there are so many newest releases that I NEED to have :)

I have dozens of K&C napoleonics and no they can't be compared to what FL is doing right now. Even if FL will cost you 50% more for each figure, the figures are at least 100% better... and at a much better price than Aeroart guys.. which are really in the same league as FL.

Oh and let's not even talk about the mounted guys... I bought one russian hussar with my 1st order and it is awesome. The delicate shades and the attention to details is unbelievable and for 99$ it's a steal. I have already 2 other hussars in my cart !

And if we're talking about steals I would HIGHLY suggest people who want to get in FL to buy in nor particular order :
-french mounted infantry colonel only 89$ !!
-Murat
-Russian hussars
-french infantry artillery set ... oups too late retired !
-any french line infantry still available
-british guard grenadier mounted colonel only 89$ !!

Cheers

Alex

Aren't the mostly sold out French line infantry a fairly old sculpt too? They came out originally at $34.95. They are supposed to be restocked this Summer according to the FL site. I wonder if they will be the same sculpts and what price they will come at - I still need a few.

I agree , and some times its like being with a drunk friend who is about to hook up with a really ugly chick , no matter what you say... he's gonna do it anyway ;) All the best Gebhard

I really like this statement and it's very true :D as I can tell from experience.
I was the drunk one :D ;)

From what I have gathered from Matt's pervious post the whole line will be restocked this summer with the addition of some new versions of the marching line figure to give collectors more choices when building their line, so as not to have to buy 20 of the same figure ( IMO just another benefit to collecting FL ) . And yes the French line are an early release having been released in June of 08 almost a year later then the Bavarians . IMO they are a step above the Bavarians but still not up to what they are doing now although IMO the are superb ;) . As to the cost... that of course will be up to FL to decide , but I can tell you if they are still going to be $ 34.95 buy early and often because they wont last long . I know I'm not the only waiting for the restock  Gebhard

I'm pretty sure the price will be the same (34.95$) for the guys that will be the same sculpt.

I can't find it now but as I recall Matt said the new figures would be head changes on the popular charging figures and a couple of others. I also think he said they would come through at the original price. Yes there are quite a few of us waiting for the restock.;)

Frank,

I think the figures don't mix but since the AFVs of all the companies appear to be the same scale, I might buy the FL AK AFV and display it with my K & C.

It's worth a try Brad....they might look and work well together regarding scale....Post us some pictures if you decide to go this route....however I think that first Legion will likely produce AK figures of their own to go with the AK AFV......That would be the best match....Hope we see some soon. Best Regards Frank
