Hi guys just a short note to ask Andy and you guys should I buy the A7V that is from OLD NORTHWEST TRADING COMPANY or wait for K&C to release one.It looks good but will it fit with my Germans that I have got from K&C.Has anyone seen one up close and how does it look.If Andy has one on the back burner I will wait for his but if he doesn't should I get this one. This is the place to get all the good views on these things. So can some one go have a Captain Cook at the NORTWEST TRADING one and let me no if it is really good.Simmo.

Simmo, I have the same problem. Do I continue with my 1/32 WW1 collection or switch to KC? The Av7 by ONWTC is 1/32 and will probably be too small for KC figures. I will probably by both if KC does one but the ONWTC tank is nice and I will probably get that to compliment current figures. Still, I will probably switch to KC for future later war figures. It is a dilemma. -- lancer

I too wish they were compatible. I do not mind mixing companies if they fit togther. Now being dedicated to WWI, I expect to see a wide variety of WWI sets from K&C in the future. The plus side with going with K&C is that they will produce many more infantry pieces than ONWTC.

Since it is the only German tank from that time period, I would be very surprised that K&C did not make one.

Tough question as I really like the Old Northwest stuff. It also depends on the size of your 1/32 v. K & C collection. As I am a relative newcomer to WWI and only have the K & C first issue (Marching band, Kaiser Wilhelm and officers) and not any 1/32, I would be inclined to purchase the K & C version although I thought the Old Northwest tanks, particularly the Renault, were quite nicely done.

Guess, I really haven't helped, have I?

I don't have any of the K&C WW1 stuff but is it not 1/32nd scale? For some reason I had K&C as only doing 1/30th scale in WW2 and the rest as 1/32nd? Any help from forum members greatly appreciated.

This whole compatibility question is a real pain. I started my WW1 collection way before KC got involved. Trophy figures first with some TAW. I then switched to matte when Britains Mons series came out. I really like those figures quite a bit, especially the French. I also bought the ONWTC French Renault, Poilu, and German Stormtroop figures. The KC early war figures didn't impress me enough to switch over but the new 1917 troops and tank have impressed me and know I have to decide which figures to go with. I suspect, as was mentioned in another post, that KC will offer a wider range of choices in late-war figures so I will probably go with KC late war and stay with Britains early war. Trophy and TAW are gone and the ONWTC items will stay with an occasional addition if I can afford it. Such decisions are hard to make. -- lancer

Andy mentioned a few threads ago that it would be many releases of late WWI from both sides. I supposed that means; Trenches Warfare that includes Artillery. WWI wasn’t Tank warfare so I think the A7V is going to be the only one …

It is just my opinion

Cheers.

Its KING & COUNTRY guys - if there is a British Tank - THERE WILL BE A GERMAN TANK ! ;)

Actually, I am surprised that Andy went with the BRITISH TANK first - when most people agree that German figures & tanks sell extremely well.

Not many people are aware that Germany even had a armored force in WW1. The British Marks are much more famous, and thus marketable (IMO) to the general public. Those of us that know of the AV7 will wait patiently for Germany's only WW1 tank to see action. Bring it on! -- lancer

Why don't you folks wait, till those of us who have the ONWTS Mark buy a KC one also. Then we can take pictures to show you K/C is hardly 1/30 scale, anymore..Even within K/C's different eras, there are constant size differences, depending of scultors ,molds and tooth fairies..Michael

Guys,

I can answer all your questions.I have all the K&C WWI releases as well as the first three ONTC WWI releases.IMO they are completely incompatible. It is not even possible that one could be truly 1/30 and the other 1/32.K&C figures are way more than 2/32 larger than ONTC(or Britains for that matter,I have some of their WWI also).K&C WWI figures are the same size as WWII.The first ONTC tanks are very nice but the soldier figures are much smaller, less detailed, less colorful and generally less appealing than K&C.I would think that the K&C tanks will be incompatible with the ONTC.Hope that helps.

This whole subject has me ticked off.I started collecting some Britains and ONTC WWI sets because I had no idea K&C would start their own range. So I start collecting K&C 1914 and have almost all of them.I've been waiting for some French,British Cav. or artillery from any of the 3 nations. So what does K&C do?They switch to 1917.This hobby is getting harder and harder to keep up with.K&C seems to go off on tangents quite a bit.One thing I have to say about John Jenkins is that he keeps adding to his ranges in a logical way and there is always the light of a complete balanced scene/diorama at the end of the tunnel.I like that about JJD.

Anyway, that is my first forum rant.

Thanks Warrior for the update. Will the K&C figures look out of place next to the ontc tank.Could I get away with them or is the tank just to small.Simmo.

Thanks for the definitive insight mate.

i agree, i will prefer the WW1 series moved steadily thru the war years.

and i also understand the frustration one gets when the series is jumping sequence and one feels and wonder when his intended diorama/scene can be completed.

for my case, the 1916 battle of the Somme will be my choice, and the Passchendaele battle a close second. with that i will wait and see further releases of stormtroopers and trenches before commiting.

I am with Simpson. The A7V by K&C would be good and even better if it is based on the last remaining one which is in Brisbane Australia. I had posted the following in another section of this forum but have copied it here for info.

Guys,
I just mentioned this in a thread in the K&C section but thought forum readers
might be interested :

The only original A7V WWI German tank in the world is in Brisbane Australia.
Apparently a German company offered about A$20 million for it several years ago which was declined. They got the specifications and apparently made two replicas back home in Germany.

A bit of background "Mephisto remained stranded at Monument Wood until July 1918, when Australian troops of the 26th Battalion AIF (composed mainly of Queenslanders) eventually pushed the Allied front line past Mephisto's position. It was recovered by Allied forces on the night of 22 July 1918 and taken to Vaux-en-Amienois before being shipped to England in January 1919. During this time, Mephisto was 'redecorated' with details of its capture, soldiers' names and a 'British' lion with his paw on an A7V.

Subsequently, it was proposed that the tank to be displayed as a 'war trophy' in Queensland. Mephisto eventually arrived in Brisbane aboard the S S Armagh in June 1919 where it was unloaded at the Norman Wharf. On the morning of 22 August, two City Council steamrollers towed the tank to the Queensland Museum in Gregory Terrace. It remained there until 1986 when both it and the Museum were relocated to the Queensland Cultural Centre, South Bank".

For further information on this tank go to www.qm.qld.gov.au/features/mephisto/index.asp

Brett it would be great either way.We down under don't have the numbers to get this done right away. But with asking and others asking we can build anything.Thats how this great country got built .Simmo.

I wish you Aussies would get together and campaign for a Gallipoli series. I had hopes that Andy would do it with his WWI series. However we seem to have gone straight to 1917 and left out the Dardenelles. I know I would be very interested in a Gallipoli series.

Simmo et. al.,

I just revisited my WWI collection.K&C WWI figures are smaller than WWII figures.I also put a WWI German figure next to a ONTC figure and ONTC Renault 17 tank. The K&C figure is larger but not as much as I thought, probably 2/32 is about right. They are close to the same height, but K&C figure has a significantly larger head, thus the difference in facial detail. The K&C figure looks OK next to the tank. You would have to have an exceptional eye for scale to tell the difference. Also the German A7V tank was a much bigger tank than the Renault,so K&C figures would probably go even better with that tank. However I still think the K&C figures are quite different stylistically from the ONTC figures and I don not like the way they look together.Hope I didn't confuse every one this thread and was actually able to help.
