What was the third set. I have two of them and the two ARW sets.
The 3rd set was Confederates Series II.

It was missing 5 poses from the first Confederate set:

1. Officer in plumed hat with sword and pistol
2. N.C.O. in kepi with pistol pointing
3. Running soldier in kepi with musket
4. Soldier standing in kepi in fur skin coat holding musket to chest
5. Shot soldier in kepi

but retained the following 5 poses:

6. Kneeling firing in kepi with blanket roll
7. Standing firing in kepi with overcoat
8. Charging in kepi
9. Advancing on guard in kepi with overcoat
10. Marching in kepi

and 5 new poses:

11. Standing firing with upturned bush hat
12. Charging in hat with lowered musket
13. Charging in kepi at the high port
14. Advancing on guard in kepi (no coat)
15. Standing, port arms with hat

So basically it was like this

Set I: Poses 1-10 (2 of each, 20 figures)
Set II: Poses 6-15 (2 of each, 20 figures)

Ha ha. :D

Actually, those 3 Accurate Figures sets form the backbone of my current collection (obsession) so I am intimately familiar with them. ;)

I have 7 x Union, 5 x Confederate & 3 x Series II Confederates sets.

It wasn't until later that I started reinforcing my painted plastic American Civil War armies with Imex soldiers. Which turned out to be of equal quality.

I have some of the ACW confederate artillery from Imex. Would like to see the Infantry from Imex.

Imex #705 Union Infantry

There's one dismounted cavalry trooper mixed in. The running color bearer is really good as is the "Burnside" officer in the Kepi. Two of the firing figures, leaning in to fire (standing and kneeling) are good. The other two firing are clumsey looking. Most of the figures are "off" in anatomy and ugly to look at or are unusable to creat the infantry formations of the CW. The fellow sitting on the barrel is a one use figure.

I guess that because I've worn the uniforms and done the drills, I'm prejudiced. If the figures are "wrong" but look "neat" like the old Marx figures, or stiff and stylized but "pretty" like Armies-In Plastic I like them anyway.

I favor the accurate figures over the Imex figures. Have you seen the Men-At Arms figures? They are a little smaller but nicely sculpted. I converted some of their Iron Brigade and Colored Infantry figures. Leadmen

John I also like the sculpting on Call to arms sets but I find the figures to be way to small and the lack of poses per box makes them VERY limited!!! 4 poses per box just dosn,t cut it.

I agree Tim: I don't know why they made their figures almost 35mm scale. I painted their Zulu's also and they had a couple of sets which gave you 8 poses.I have their 1/72 figures also. I wish they would reissue them in a larger size. John

Tim, John, I would agree with you both. Nice sculpts , clean lines, but way to small. On their own no big deal but when the dio figures are Conte:eek: Look out! Maybe they could be painted as kids.

Welcome to the forum Ragnar!

Nice paint job.

Simon

I have enjoyed the accurate figures since getting them from the father unit. They really are nicely done and your painting hallmarks the clean lines and sharpness of detail. Well met!

You can have some fun with ACCURATES even unpainted.

Those are decent looking figures.. I also like A Call to Arms but I think they usually only have 4 different poses in a figure set

Jim

How many boxes did it require to get that many guys doing nothing?

I have the Napolenic British Light infantry and they would certainly appear to be comparable to Marx 54mm.

Doing Nothing? (Ha-rumpf!)

They're at attention, being inspected, guarding, or in reserve. This was linear warfare, they marched in line, stood in line. It took a good number of boxes and finding stores that had broken up the boxes, selling the figures as individuals. Look, theres an NCO, and an Officer. Instant diorama theme.:)
