Hey gang:

I think a lot of us on this forum do either own/have owned or were impressed with the articulation and attention to detail offered by companies like 21st Century when they offer 1:18th (4" Action figure size) scale toy soliders. Many of us, myself included, do not collect them due to lack of space and/or depth of ranges.

But what if a toy soldier company were to merge the articulation found with action figures into the commonly accepted 1:32nd scale toy soldier market- would there be an interest? I am assuming that these would be plastic toy soldiers, not metal.

Would you be inclined to buy them? I probably would as you could use the same figures in many different poses- marching, resting, getting shot, shooting, low crawling, etc. I would think this could possibly reduce costs significantly because you wouldn't have to make as many molds. Design a good body to act as the base figure then just produce the figures.

Thoughts??

Sounds kind like the old Micronauts by Mego, back in the late 70s-early 80s.

With the small scale, some degree of articulation is possible, but remember that the more complicated the master is, eg, more parts, fine and small pieces for the joints, the more expensive the final product will be. Still, a decently-designed figure, with the level of movement of a GI Joe, or the old Marx "Best of the West" figures, or modern Dragon figures, wouldn't be too difficult to produce and still be relatively priceworthy.

Prost!

An interesting concept Chris. I am not sure if it would be something I would collect. I had toyed with the idea of creating the AZW in 1:6 so who knows. I guess I would have to see the product.

Inesting concept for sure. I think I would be interested done properly I could see it being attractive for collectors and innovative for the market.

There would be a lot of very unpleasant joints, which IMO would detract from the overall appearance. Don't think it would prove to be too popular. Trooper

Something I believe as well...... handling and posing 4" figures is much easier than 2.5" figures.
