For the upcoming ACW cavalry , why not riders with one weapon in each hand, like BRITAINS DEETAIL 7th Cavalry ?

I think that because it is not historically accurate would be a good reason NOT to have weapons in both hands.

Not all releases of the figures must be based on rigid historical reality,so there is more variety of poses:):)

Please, no left handed swordsmen! No troopers waving a carbine and sword! One hand for the reins is good.

Scott : please consider, Collector's Showcase ACW mounted standard bearer holds flag in one hand, pistol + reins in the other ! And their Napoleonic cuirassier trumpeter, trumpet in a hand and sword in the other!

Drawed that:

The dismounted cavalryman firing the Henry from the hip is "Hollywood". The idea of having more than one round available before reloading was not used or meant for firing like Rambo.

I've seen rapid fire done with a Reproduction Henry and the man was showing off. Another Henry ownwer has told me that it is an expensive waste of blank ammunition that you have to make specially for yourself. (This only applies to Reenactors of course, they do have experience firing live rounds safely and accurately as well)

Historically the idea was to have plenty of ammunition for AIMED shots rather than blasting away from the hip. Considering that replacement ammunition has to come by train and wagon from the North, it's not good to waste it blazing away. The US Govt's and army's officals were concerned about breech loading weapons wasting ammo and money in untrained hands.

Some soldiers bought their own Henrys as part of a color guard. Expensive in those days as was the ammunition and hard to replace in the field.

The Britains toy US Cavalry is fun and they are good quality models but they are more Hollywood, 1870s, John Ford/John Wayne western than correct US Cavalry from the American Civil War. The yellow cavalry kerchief is pure Hollywood.

I've also seen a lot of reenactor cavalry and you need one hand for the reins. The bugler was expected to concentrate on playing the calls at the order of the officer.

For Collectors Showcase to copy those poses could not be a service to collectors.

Nice sketches BTW.

Hi general Custer, these soldiers Comansi reminds me of my childhood when I played with them at Fort Laramie, the company has ceased trading Comansi this summer after more than 40 years of activity.

The yellow cavalry kerchief in the neck("made in Hollywood") combines well with the yellow band of the trousers of subofficials and officials. It is my opinion.

Yes it does....but You will be laughed at wearing one as a Civil War soldier and that my friend is an observation based on experience.

Scott : you are right completely. Perhaps Spanish Soldiers and me let us like to dream, from time to time!

I am thinking about having seen his personal blog on his wide collection of miniatures. A magnificent collection.
