For part of my wife's Christmas gifts I gave her K&C set# HK152 to add to "our" Streets of Old Hong Kong display which is her favorite display. I did not think there was room for any more sets, but with a minor revision of moving a small set (HK066) to another location I freed up room for set# HK152 of the "Curio Seller" which is still going for 2009 prices at $79.00 USD. I still remember Andy Neilson advising me some years back when I told him my display of his SOOHK is "full" and I do not need anymore. His told me something like "there are lots of people in Hong Kong and therefore you can always add more figures to your display of SOOHK". I guess Andy was correct! I got this set via Treefrog Treasures for $79.00 with free S&H. This #3 piece set consists of the seller, a customer and a rug full of curio items, etc. First photo is a close up of set# HK152 just added. Second photo is of "Jetty" on the left hand side of "The Bridge" of old HK set# HKBI where the "Curio Seller" set is located. I have previously posted photos of the entire 84 by 29 inch display of the Streets of Old Hong Kong in 2010. All sets are made by King & Country except for John Gittings scenery items and some other non-figured dockside items.

Great stuff! The Curio seller is one of my favourites. My SOHK display is also absolutely packed, with barely room to move but as Andy says, that's a pretty accurate depiction of street life in much of South East Asia... crowded and vibrant.

Thanks for sharing... it's always good to see pix from this range.

cheers

Dear "Jules118":

Thanks for your comments on the K&C SOOHK or SOHK series. I thought I would post 5 more photos to show the rest of our circa 1897 "Streets of Old Hong Kong" display as currently displayed.

Really nice set up you've got there "Iron Brigade". Many of the sets that you have on display were already retired by the time I started collecting and I had not seen them, nor some of the buildings before. My collection in this range has stalled somewhat over the past 12 months or so but I think that when I get home after the Christmas break I may revisit my setup and maybe build some more buildings and scenery. You've inspired me.

Not sure if you have seen this thread in the forum but it features some of the collections from this area of interest. Would be great if you could add your photos to it.

Dear Jules:

Thanks for your informative 2nd reply back to me. Yes, I recall seeing the "Thread" you started a while back about K&C's SOOHK, etc. On your 1st posting to this Thread you noted that your favorite single HK set was of HK152 of the "Curio Seller". While it is hard to pick out a single HK set that has figures in it as my most favorite set, but if I had to I would probably pick set HK054 of the "Street School" which I have had for many years now. We also have two SOOHK sets in a separate display representing the clebrations of the Chinese Lunar New Year in which my wife prepared using back drop items purchased at a local handi-craft store. We also transferred some flowers from the "Flower Shop" set to the right hand corner of the Chinese New Year display. See photos of the above noted HK sets.

Happy New Year, Gary / "Iron Brigade"

Very different dio and very nice collection you have there. Even though I'm not collecting this range but I like the whole diorama. It's full of little activities.

Beautiful display. I love the new set you purchased. I am a big admirer of the Hong Kong series. If I wasn't already involved in so many other series, I would collect it myself.

I just want to thank the assorted fellow members of the Forum who have posted comments to my Thread I started a short time ago in December 2011.
