I just added three of K&C's just issued new additions to their "Napoleon in Egypt" (1798) series ("NE"). The new sets are NE19, "General with Map"; NE20, "Guide with Musket" and NE26, "Smoke Break". I now have #13 people figures, a camel from K&C's LoJ series, and two monuments from the new "NE" series as well as the one from K&C's "AE" series that is shown on the far right side of the diorama which is at about 28 by 10 inches. Please see my revised diorama in the five photos shown below. The #3 new figures may be seen in the third photo below.

This is a great series and I only hope that K&C will add action figures including Mamelukes.
More French marching troops, mounted on camels and some Hussars would really add to diorama options.
Of course a French fighting square being attacked by mounted Mamelukes in their colorful costumes would be outstanding.

Hello "NySoldiers":

Thank you very much for your comments. Yes, it is an unique and colorful series to collect and display.

Some days ago I started to read a book entitled "Napoleon in Egypt" by Paul Strathern.
I just got pass the part where the French "Squares" (really rectangles) were attacked by the Mamelukes, etc just some miles North of Cairo, Egypt. I still remember learning about the "Rosetta Stone" in my world history class in high school way back when. It was neat that K&C has the special set representing the discovery of that stone which is shown on my diorama on the far left front side of it.

Hi Gary

Very nice dio and thank you for sharing. Have you got your guys standing on sand/loose gravel to hide their bases ? Quite naturally done ... but perhaps a backdrop picture of the pyramids could add to the scene.

I hope to soon see a Mameluke truce delegation meeting with the young General to discuss ransom of hostages or a local truce or something like that. Also more on members of the geographic and scientific expedition.

Hello "OldDragon":

Thanks for your comments. The diorama is on top of a bookcase that is at about 30 x 10 inches. I have added a piece of light brown felt material to the top of the bookcase and then added some playbox sand to cover the figures bases and most of the felt material.

The poster board paper in medium blue represents the sky line and comes in 28 by 22 inch pieces. Other possible backdrops made by J.G. Gittins or whoever normally are in smaller sizes which means you have to fit two or more sections together which tends to show the borders of the sections even if you are careful to to put them close together. However, I may run across a splendid backdrop of the pyramids in a large enough section some day which would look nice indeed. Yes, some future K&C Mamlukes with their splendid uniforms would be interesting.

Just love it Gary. I like the way your sand is not just sand. That it has larger rocks here and there making it look so period and real!! I have only three pieces from this set thus far.

Another great job Gary!!!!!

Man, I'm off for a few days and I miss great dioramas like this one! Very well done.
The one we have here at the store is much smaller and as a result a little crowded.

Hi Gary,

You have a nice collectiom of figures there and a fine display going. :salute::

I totally agree with you! But in the last 1 or 2 years KC has made very quiet items, and very little action ( apart from the australian cavalry)

Hello "Poppo":

Yes, so far of course K&C has only to date produced the "Napoleon in Egypt" figures that relate to the French Army in Egypt in 1798 that relate to their visiting ancient Egyptian monuments. I doubt that K&C will get into action battle figures unless this "NE" or Napoleon in Egypt series is super popular. But anything is possible!

Gary,

it has been stated by Andy that he will be expanding this range to battle scenes, and so that will mean an on-going series.

The good thing will be that the Frenchmen may be able to be also used in some European Battles, depending on the uniforms he chooses to make them.

At the start of this campaign they wore thier blue coast, but as the occupation of Egypt was prolonged, the heavy coats were not useful, and so with wear and tare, they used local tailors to make a new lighter version, with unique colours for the particular demi-brigade.

These are some Rose Miniatures of mine as an example.

So if K&C go down that way we will get a VERY colourful set of troops on both side, when you consider the Mamalukes as well!!!

Here's hoping :)

Hello "Obee" / John:

Thanks for the K&C information on the Napoleon in Egypt series that started only a relatively short time back. Sounds interesting, especially about the colorful Mamelukes!
