They went into production in 1941 - too late for Poland or the Battle of France. They were heavily used in Russia. At some point the bedframe antennae was replaced by a whip antennae to make it less conspicuous. The original Sd.Kfz. 250 design was produced until October 1943 when it was replaced by a much simpler design. So aside from North Afrika, the early eastern front was where some with the bedframe antennae served and they were grey

I second this I'd like to see a German halftrack like this to attack my forces at Arnhem. I have a very rare book on the german armoured units at Arnhem and I'm pretty sure there were possibly a few during operation market garden!

Is the one in the picture and 251 or the larger 252?

I think there was a suggestion a few years ago to do a number of variations of the 250, but alas other priorities have interceded, but they will surface one day I would imagine. Robin.

I can see more opportunities for the 250, especially with over 20 variants as well.

Looks good

As far as I am aware, there were 12 variants in the 250 and 22 in the 251. If they are produced, my preferred colour is Grey. They are a neat looking halftrack, a real versatile little work horse. Robin.

A very good set of 8-1/2 by 11" soft cover books on the Sd.Kf 250 and Sd.Kfz 251 are the Panzer Tracts by Jentz and Doyle. They can still be purchased - roughly $25 each. The books are short but very technical

Jentz, T.L. and H.L. Doyle, 2008, Panzer Tracts - No.15-1 Leichter Schuetzenpanzerwagen (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 250) Ausführung A & B History of Production, Variants, Organizaton, and Employment in Action from 1941 to 1945, Jentz, Boyds, MD, ISBN:9780981538204.

Jentz, T.L. and H.L. Doyle, 2005, Panzer Tracts - No.15-2 Mittlere Schuetzenpanzerwagen (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) History of Variants, Production, Organization, Issue, Tactics, and Employment in Action from 1939 to 1942, Jentz, Boyds, MD, ISBN:9780977164318.

Jentz, T.L. and H.L. Doyle, 2006, Panzer Tracts - No.15-3 Mittlere Schuetzenpanzerwagen (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) Ausführung C & D History of Production, Variants, Organization, and Employment in Action from 1943 to 1945, Jentz, Boyds, MD, ISBN:9780977164356.
