OK - I am just wondering who else got sucked into the Streets of Old Hong Kong range - because you are now buying US NAVY figures ??

Or is it just me ? ... LOL :D

I really see a lot of potential with the US NAVY range and really in the past never gave the SOHK a second look - writing them off as a "ASIAN THING" - but when the US NAVY guys came out and my love of the the movie Sand Pebbles - it made me start to think - well I will buy a couple of diorama pieces for a backdrop to the US NAVY figures - then - well maybe a couple more ....

Now - I have several SOHK diorama pieces and find myself looking at SOHK figures !

I am a VICTIM of King & Country Cross-Marketing - A VICTIM, I TELL YOU ! ;)

So how many others out there have fallen prey to this clever trap ?

Come on fess up !

I will not buy the sailors unless a gunboat of some type is mfg. I did build a hybrid gunboat as a backdrop, if I wanted to collect this line, and I could build a reasonable facsimile of the San Pablo, but I really do not want to, as the figure types for this period is so limited. And without deckguns and mg's with appropriate crew to arm the ship, the ship alone is not that intriguing..Michael

Actually, IMO, this is one of the most beautiful ranges Andy makes along with the Egyptian. I have periodically bought pieces over the years from Silk Road, SOHK and IC lines.

Very nice, painting is out of this world.

Tom

Streets of Old Hong Kong just doesn't do it for me. I will admit they are beautiful looking figures.

I've always thought the SOHK range was a cool change of pace, a historical civilian range to briefly take collectors focus away from war. I have a pretty sizeable collection of the SOHK, as well as the other civilian ranges (Dickens and Silk Road) which predates the Navy range by more than 10 years.

Nope!....my wife and I have been collecting these for a number of years now, and as Tom says "is one of the most beautiful ranges" and "the painting is out of this world".

Ron, the trouble is what do you buy? There are so many fantastic sets you are spoilt for choice.

Have fun.

Jeff, the four words that torture me at every London show 'What do you buy';).

These SOHK look very nicely done indeed and Harry as posted some wonderful displays of his collection, but they are not really for me i'm afraid.Having as a child been addicted to 'Commando' and 'Battle picture library' i like my figures in action:).Its probably best actually,if they were my cup of tea i'd be Bankrupt by now!;)

SOHK were amongst the very first K&C figures I ever bought - but, of course, I had an ulterior motive there....an ulterior motive that backfired on me - SPECTACULARLY....!!!!

Cheers

Yea - I guess you guys are right - these SOHK figures are really beautiful and do offer a change of pace from the War figures.

I too have been a big admirer of Sir Harry the Heid's collection of SOHK - probally one of the many reasons I have been drawn to the range. Lots of color and interesting figures.

Having done a little travel for the US Congress in Asia - It does bring back some fond memories.

It seems to me that the SOHK range is some of K&C's most beautiful work. Given all the competing demands for other ranges, it is not one I am likely to be able to get too unfortunately. In another life as they say.

They're Madame Heid's collection actually - but I get to play with them sometimes;

BTW, the Guy here was being booked for smuggling in illegal puppies into the Special Administration Zone. The donkey was booked for having an overly-loud exhaust - the decibel reading was offthe scale...!!!

Very nice Harry. Wish I had the room for them. That's why I can't get sucked into this range. I would go poor :(

This is a great range but, I'm committed to others. No US navy either... I'm not a fan of movie tie-ins. I want my historical figures to represent the actual historical personality rather than a movie star playing that personality. Wasn't interested in many Conte figures for that reason.

Its so hard to choose a range isn't it.I guess thats what helps to make collecting a challenge.I really admire you guys who can have a few sets from one range and a few from another etc etc. When i get hooked i'm hooked for life and very loyal to that theme, perhaps with an odd affair with the Zulu Wars;).There is also every chance one day i may commit adultery with Napoleonics!!:D;)

S’More..?? Okay then….
Of course there’s some Imperial Collection snaps in here as well. In some ways, I think IC is even better than SOHK – but it seems to be getting phased out.

Splendid photos Harry. That piper seems to have taken a wrong turn somewhere, hasn't he? :p

To answer the original question though, nope, have not bitten on these. It's been awfully tempting at times.......

Nope....not interested in this range nor the sailors......too many more desireable alternatives for me......
