Am I right in thinking that there are postcards and fliers of some of Johns ranges in some of the photos from the show?

I've never seen any cateloges or leaflets by JJ Designs before only third party adverts. His web site is great but is not up dated as often as his releases come out unfortunatly. I guess he has to prioritise what he devotes his time to.

On another note the Whale Boat has to be the best single set from any manufacturer at the moment IMO!

I bet Figarti would dispute you with their K5 railway gun.

Hello,
I picked up two JJ flyers at the show. They are small, measuring about 5''X8".
The are double sided with color pictures of the figures. One flyer is for the 'Jacobite Rebellion 1745', the other is 'The War of 1812- The Battle of Chippewa 1814. I you have trouble getting them, let me know and I will send them out to you. Mike

Mike,

Any chance you could scan them and post them on here.

Thanks

Had an email from John yesterday.;)

"I've attached some info on the new series. I cant find the exact final version of the leaflet, but this should give you some idea.
Full details and prices will be released in the next few weeks.

The whaleboat, the boats and figures will be separate, but sold as a set together."

I have sent flyer to Brad (Jazzeum) to post. Thanks Brad.

This may not come out the greatest (sorry) but here goes.

Thanks, Aussie Monty and Brad,
for bringing these up. It is appreciated.
Sure an exciting new line here.
Konrad

Konrad,

The brochure (even if it was full size) doesn't do justice to the sculpting. The kilts, for example, were beautifully painted.

Brad,

That has been the case with all John's photo's of sets.

If you like the figure in the photo, you can count on it looking so much better in person.

The poses for this series are something, "The Highland Charge" I can hear the bagpipes now. Is there anything closer to heaven. :)

I will have to get my tartan reference out to see which clans are which.

I see the flyer has some figures numbers on it, starting at 30.

Does that mean at least 30 other figures or sets to come. ;)

Cavalry & Mounted Officers on both sides, British Troops, Artillery both sides, Irish/French Troops, British Highland Allies, ............

God help me I can hear the bank manager already. I will just have to start eating ever second day from now on. :D

Thanks Brad and Aussie. That is one lonely Brit down in the corner. Looks like an interesting line. Hopefully John has mercy on us and spreads these out. BOS should also be coming to an end shortly.

This is bad news to some of us as the whaleboat will probably be in the $400-$500 range and some of us will not be able to afford this. When the prices start getting to the point that you can't get the special sets there's no use of collecting any of it.

Mark,

Based on the current JJD prices, ($28 per figure, Cabin $96 & Stockade $188) the Whale Boat I would think (6 figures $150-$170, boat & 5 oars $150-$180) will come in at approx $300-$350. But that will depend on how many are made (250-350 sets ???) and John costs to manufacturer these days.

But around $350 sounds about right, but that is my opinion only.

But with K&C's latest limited edition NA158(SL) (at 999 sets) going $230 a set (5 figures, table & chair, tent) and K&C (UK) Limited Crimean Set CRW24(SL) (at 350 sets) going $167 (1 foot figure & 1 mounted figure)

A Whale Boat (6 figures, boat & 5 oars) for $350, limited run of 250 to 350 sets, to the quality of John sets and with nothing like it on the market at the moment.

In my book that is a steal.

I think Monty is right on the mark with his price estiment. The whale boat is going to be one beauty of a set.

ALSO - For those seeking some good reading on the Battle of Culloden, Go over to Amazon and serch for " Like Hungry Wolves " by Stuart Reid. Out of print but many available through the resale dealers at about half the price it was published at. Book has great details about the '45 and is heavily illustrated including color plates by Gerry Embleton. This is a "must have" for collectors of John's new series.

Having gone to Nova Scotia and seeing several museums there - I have to admit - its going to be a "MUST HAVE" range. :D

Financial Crisis is coming closer to home !

I've received a News Flash from Sierra Toy Soldier with some more pics of the range-STUNNING,and seriously, the more photos I see of the range, the more at ease I feel regards what small concern I may have held with the faces-looks to me very much like this has been pleasingly resolved :D ob

Andrew,
I think I may have not made myself clear as to what I meant.I think the whaleboat is worth what you estimated it will be.I'm just disappointed that the figures aren't sold seperately. There was talk that it might be sold that way and in these economic hard times it would be easier to be able to buy the boat, then maybe the next month the figures.A lot of collectors have had to cut back in the last year or so including myself and more have cut back than most people realize.I hear it might be released in December.Great for a certain few but most will be getting things for Christmas for their families.

Mark,

Please do not think I was having a go at you, I was not. :)

Money is hard to come by all over the world.

But if there was only one set I was buying this year, it would be the Whaleboat.

Little birdie told me release likely to be Novomber in time for Christmas. December would be to late for Christmas and after Christmas, as with most people I will be low on fun tickets $$$$$. :(
