advice on care of K & C pieces (1 Viewer)

Just wondering is there any do's and don't when it comes to caring for K&C soldiers and tanks
Have the brigade out in the open in a diorama. Any advice on diorama maintenance (other than confining them to the glass barracks of a display cabinet) or how best to clean the figures, tanks or buildings and keep them spick and span.

Thinking more of cleaning them with methylated spirits to really bring out the shine in them

and then maybe a go in the dish washer followed by a good tumble dry!

I have a "Techvac" hand held battery operated mini vacuum which I use for cleaning dust from my computer keyboard and it comes in useful for cleaning my wifes collection of Lilliput Lane Cottages, so I guess that it could be used for dusting soldiers and the like.

The best way to care for your pieces, is to never ever take them out of the box. In that way they will remain mint when you come to sell them. Just arrange the figures in cool dioramas in your head.

A soft brush, a gentle touch and a lot of patience. mmmmm sounds like my honeymoon.

Line them up on the lounge capret in two separate rows or armies. Then throw coins at them to knock them down. Whoever has a soldier still standing at the end wins. For artillery pieces you have to aim harder to get them to jump right up in the air and turn over.

Damien, besides throwing coins , I also like chewing off the heads off the wwII soldiers and swapping the heads with the characters from the " streets of hong kong" series, whole new range

american gi's strung out in "The Opium Smokers Set" and Hitler and Churchill as "Two kitchen helpers" and goring as the little kid in the"Fire-Cracker Set"

Seriously though thanks for all the tips, i like the idea of the mini vaccum cleaner for the larger pieces and the small make up brush for the figures, and I won't feed them after midnight

Clean Hands and handle as little as possible unless you throw dirts bombs on them in the back yard during a simulated battle.....

When I played with my plastic guys (Marx) - I would build fortifications and plant firecracks throughout the battlefield - I would mix dirt with gas and use a spoon to flick the "flame dirt" at the firecrackers and men themselves.

How I did not burned down my neighborhood is still a mystery.
