Here is the latest acquisition
It is D93 from AeroArt. If you were at the Valley Forge show, you might have seen this in person. Lucky for me, it didn't sell there and I was able to get it from Thor. The figures are three vikings that are available from AeroArt, but for me it was the diorama itself that drew me in. In fact, I already have these three figures as free standing ones. One thing that was curious to me was the star of David on the cross. I haven't gotten to research the accuracy of it yet, but am wondering if it is based on history or a modern moral from the artist that we should all get along with our different religions! This diorama was made by St. Petersburg master model maker, Vitaly Puzenko. Enjoy

Wasn't sure if I was going to make it to the Jersey show. After seeing these I'm headin to Englewood Sunday. Thanks. Great photos also!

That is very interesting.

I have also found it interesting that Aeroart has vikings with horns and other adornments on their helmets. I know we cannot prove it was ever done, but that there is little evidence of this except on ceremonial helmets. What are others thoughts on this?

Regardless, an amazing diorama. Great acquisition!

I am of the same thoughts as you.As nice as the diorama is I would only purchase if I knew someone who could take the horns off.

Based on what I remember from studying the Vikings at university the consensus is indeed that helmets with horns were ceremonial.:)

The star of David looks like a modern idea as well. Having said that, there are some very fascinating symbols on runestones and similar monuments in Scandinavia.

Anyway, the figures are awesome!

I know I am in the minority, but I collect mainly based on how it looks and if I like it. I know uniforms aren't always right, but it doesn't bother me much.

There a re limits though. US Grant holding an M-16 won't fly! {sm3}

I must be in the minority too because I love it with the horns...I buy what I like...I have never been a "rivet counter"...and I love this set...if I had a choice...I would prefer it with the horns...

Mike I'm not a rivet counter either ,well maybe a little :smile2:but it;s been so ingrained in me that the horns are a myth that bothers me a little but I do think it's a beautiful dio.
