with the media hype and the combat fans being all over the place,,,why one helo etc,,a loss can occur being extracted from an lz as wel as getting in,,contradictory versions dont help,,conspiricies etc,,elimination of team six and all that..until a week ago the media was wild about the use of special ops being the answer to large numbers of troops,,well strike that now,,keyboard commandos as hackworth was fond of saying

I cringed when I heard the reports and how much is being made in our (Western) media over the units involved. My first thought was, "That's just what the jihadis need to hear, which unit it was. They'll crow that they've avenged Bin Laden's death." Sure enough, by yesterday afternoon, I heard an AP piece that a Taliban rep claimed just that.

First off our media is S#$%

I did see a good interview with an ex Navy seal who said "Get us on the ground and we will go toe to toe with anyone" "the worst part is being in the air and being helpless"

God bless those who lost their lives.

I'm with you, mate, on all points. I would only add and the families of those who lost their lives to the last sentiment.

Agree..... I was just emotional at the time and wanted to say something about the families and could not.

Completely agree. This kind of news coverage borders on criminal negligence. Why let the enemy know what has been accomplished? Why aid the enemy with this kind of public release of information? The losses are tragic but should be a private matter for the families in their time of grief and also for the military in terms of their losses and operational methods. This kind of detailed coverage can only help enemy morale. -- Al
