Hi,

I am looking for unpainted plastic African American troops for the Civil War. Has any company made such figures?
Thanks
Benjamin

Back in the 90's a company and I don't recall the name made a set, the 54th Ma. in plastic 54mm. So there is some out there.

Yep, A Call to Arms. There are four figures in the set. My copies are a kind of blue grey? They are a nice fit with the more traditional 54mm brands. I have mine set up with the Airfix cavalry and the AMEX (I think?) set.

It is a nice set, very well molded. As an added bonus they have the longer tunics which can be painted as Berdan's Sharpshooters or marines. My only gripe is that they have two similar figures, one at port arms and one at shoulder arms, but no figure kneeling and firing.

Here's some of the A Call to Arms troops I painted up a while back. Enjoyable figures to paint.

You get 16 unpainted plastic figures in 4 different poses per box at a very reasonable price.CALLCOLOR.jpgCALLCOLORB.jpgCALLCOLORRED.jpg

You can also double your A Call to Arms USCT poses if you get one of their Iron Brigade sets and do some head swaps.

I also plan on converting some Conte figures using African American heads I bought from All the King’s Men. Too bed Ken has closed up shop—it would probably be hard to track down some now.

Good idea. I also painted up some Iron Brigade but didn't think of head swaps at the time.30136_113613385347712_2797594_n.jpg
