After watching war movies (2 Viewers)

Hey,
if you just watched a war movie, are you getting to your computer and check what figures are available for that period?
Every time I watch a movie, and I like it, I start thinking about how great it would be to have some figures of that period on display. Ancient times, Napoleonics, Far East, Civil War, WWI, WWII, it doesn't really matter.
While watching a movie I am already thinking about who made figures for this subject.
Am just wondering if that is only me or are there anymore for this subject?

Your not alone Konrad. It doesn't happen with every movie but there are certainly some which get me to thinking. I find that it happens with books as well. In fact, I 'm pretty sure there is a direct linkage between the movie Waterloo and the "Sharpe" book on Waterloo, and the Highland square diorama in my cabinet.

You certainly are not alone in this Konrad, 'Dunkirk' has me looking at the FOB figures, and everytime I see Zulu or Waterloo I start looking with my finger hovering over the order button

Not so much checking the catalogs to buy a figure or figures, but I do sometimes draw inspiration from various movies to look at creating a scene or to do figure conversions. For instance, I was working on some plastic USMC figure conversions for a friend. I watched the "Peleliu" episode of "The Pacific" and I was impressed by the dash across the airfield. I ended up converting figures and building accessories to create about six running Marines carrying a 60mm mortar and its ammo. The movie "Battle of the Bulge" is absolute tripe as far as history goes, but I'll sit down and watch it and get inspired to build tank models. It's funny what can get the creative flow started

It is certainly not me. I watch a number of WWII war movies and westerns but I have no desire to collect either period.

I want to also Konrad,especially if it's Last of the Mohicans,Gettysburg,or Glory,and Gladiator.I don't dare watch Kingdom of Heaven right now with FL line of The Crusades just starting to come out.

Yes indeed! I'm pretty sure that a few viewings of Beau Geste has something to do with that large Beau Geste Play Set stored downstairs at my place. In this case it was a residual movie-watching effect though. The scarier part for me is that I caught myself trolling for some nice metal Foriegn Legion sets yesterday....
