I started with aircraft, not surprising given my background but given what I think they would need to cost, I doubt I would take the plunge again. A lot would depend on the medium and how many features it had. Personally I find this Hobby Master 1/32 Diecast the current state of the art

It is an incredible bargin at $169 and if they ever did a Spitfire like that I would "need" it I expect. So to spend $500 or so for a polystone aircraft with no moving parts would just not do it for me. After all, that would buy 10 foot or 3 mounted Napoleonics.;):D

I have to agree completely with Spitfrnd. I have the same Hobby Master model and several of the older, not quite as detailed Corgi 1:32. A polystone airplane with less detail at a higher price would not do it for me. and as Spitfrnd said, that pays for a lot of other figures.

Is the Hobby Master line a legit 1/32 or a smaller representation? In the world of toy soldiers, 1/32 or 1/30 is open to interpretation or whatever size your Chinese mfg. decided to make them:confused: Michael

I haven't measured them, but they look OK to the eye. Most of my aircraft collection is 1:72 anyway. I have only 5 1:32 aircraft with Hobby Master the best - but they make only one type of plane in that size.

Aren't you gentlemen comparing apples and oranges? A mass produced die cast air plane or vehicle will almost always have much better detail than anything produced in very limited numbers in this hobby. With the exception of the paint job, I am fairly certain that there are die cast metal tanks and other military vehicles out there that blow anything Figarti or First Legion produces out of the water, quality of detail casting-wise, just like the Hobby Master and Corgi planes are superior detail wise to anything in polystone. But, as to afford to produce these far more expensive die cast molds you have to sell thousands of each tank or plane, you will never have the same type of collectible you find in our hobby.

I think there is a place for both, and frankly, I would rather have a Figarti or First Legion tank where only 100 or so are produced, as to me, each of these are closer to individual works of art.

I've drooled over the hobby master ever since I first saw it, also it's one of the few largwe scale Pacific theater planes out there, very nice!!

I do have some Franklin mint planes...They are 1:48 scale I use them only as backdrops to some scenes......I do like the hobbymaster 1:32 scale Spitfire... however....I think that aircraft larger than a spitfire in 1:30 scale would be hard to display(space limitations)....If made I would hope that they would be produced in plastic, so as not to be cost prohibitive. However aircraft would "not be high" on my list of wants...

I suppose I just don't feel the same way about aircraft as I do about AFVs and figures?

The way you feel about tanks is the way I feel about aircraft, which is why I love the K & C ones. But, hey, to each his own.

I agree that there is room for both but I would rather have the ones that are reasonably affordable.;) There is no 1:32 HM Spitfire however, at least not that I know about.
