Being a fan of the EA SAS range, does anybody know if there was an equivalent unit in the Afrika Korps with the same mandate, ie to operate behind enemy lines, disrupt supply chains, blow up airfields etc.?

I think there was an Italian/German group called the "Autosaharan Regiment" that had a similar mandate, but never operated effectively.

I have an Osprey book entitled "Desert Raiders: Axis and Allied Special Forces 1940-1943." I haven't read it extensively but it indicates there were various Italian and German groups.

Thanks for the replies. Did they dress the same as regular AK/Italians or did they go for adapting to local dress/customising?

The Italians wore stuff from the first world war same with the tanks and weapons.
