All quiet on the First Legion Front (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone,
new listing pre-order on site FL ;)
Cuirassiers Dorsenne available in January
"Sorry" Gebhard, I have not found a "bomb "!!!!! ad for Christmas?,:(

Thanks for the History lesson , it sounds interesting . I think it would be a good move on the part of First Legion to do a line that would include American Indians of some kind . There seems to be a lot of fans of this period and I'm sure collectors would love to see First Legion produce some :) I don't collect this period but I'm pretty sure I would buy a couple of American Indian warriors , they do look very cool :D Would love to have a Warrior mounted on a painted horse that would be something . All the best Gebhard

Matt,
You should listen to one of your best customers.:D

Especially if we're talking Huron, Mohawk, Abenaki, Fort William Henry, Montcalm and Wolfe, you get the picture...

American Indian figures would be right at home in the current AWI line, since different tribes fought on both sides in that conflict. They were a significant feature during the Saratoga campaign, for example. Not in the Battles of Freeman's Farm and Bemis Heights so much, but in the periphery of the campaign, such as the Battle of Oriskany. Also, Sullivan's Campaign in 1779 saw a Continental army strike at the Iroquois in an attempt to end the raiding that was taking place along the frontier. Don't think that there would be any mounted warriors though, as that would more at home for some Plains Indians.

I certainly think that in time, FL should do some Indians. With thier sculpting and paintwork, you know FL would do an excellent job. However, they shouldn't do it until after a couple of releases of Continentals!:)

Indians done by First Legion for their AWI line would certainly be very interesting. Here are a few possibilities. Two Iroquois Warriors, Chief Joesph Bryant and Seneca Chief Red Jacket.
Wouldn't that be nice figures?

Konrad, What's the name of the book you're giving examples from. It looks great. Would appreciate the title and author. Thanks. - Ken

Hi Ken,
pictures are from a book I just received this week.

An illustrated Encyclopedia of Uniforms From 1775-1783, The American Revolutionary War

A beautiful 255 pages very well illustrated book. Bought it from Amazon.com and currently it is only about $23.00, a real bargain.
They also have other Uniform encyclopedias in this series. One for the 19th Century which I also have and one for the Napoleonic Era which I will get next week. A book about the "Kaiser's Army" WWI is in the making and will be available soon.

Thanks Konrad, The book looks like it's very nicely illustrated as well as a good detailed text. I'll look forward to picking up a copy. - Ken

Wow this is very cool , I love it when collectors get fired up about possible releases :D After all the rest of the world thinks were NUTZ
I would not know one Tribe from another but a well done American Indian figure from First Legion could change that  that's the beauty of our hobby a well done figure can pull you in :) I hope the AWI collectors get what they want its fun to see my boy Fusilier getting excited .. I know he had been hoping they would open this range .

Ken-
The book Konrad showed is a good one if you are wanting a wide varitey of AWI units from not just the American and British armies, but others as well. If you watch, sometimes Amazon will do a sale on them. I got my new copy a couple of months back for $14.00, but it is worth a lot more than that!

Konrad, the pic you posted is just what I was thinking. As you no doubt agree, FL would make those Indians look great!

You are correct sir, I am patiently waiting for the 5th Foot preorder. Matt has heard it enough, so I won't dwell on it here!

As for the different tribes, I think most the warriors would look basically similar. FL has a great opportunity there, to cover a number of different tribes with a few basic figures, kind of like how K & C has done with thier generic AWI Indian figures.

Hey Noah,
check out FL's website.
The 5th Foot are up :D

I knew that Matt had so many things stuffed in his bag for christmas and early 2011.. I was not into AWI at first ... but man I think I will not be able to resist those red shirts !
