All Quite on the Jenkins Front (2 Viewers)

No, not French Dragoons but French Jacobite infantry.

Hopefully this means a continuation of the Royal Ecossois Rgmt. This past summer JJD released 2 sets, EEC-5 & EEC-6, so it seems that there are more sets planned - at least enough to fill in the lower numbers.

the new British Regiment could be the the 35th Regiment of Foot which was part of the Fort William Henry garrison and was active in the Quebec and Louisbourg battles.

If that's the case I may have to get back in.:)

I have seen nothing to suggest the 35th regiment, but if it is the 35th, John has to be very careful about the color of the facings. For a very long time, people believed the facing color was "orange". All the older uniform books and flag books have it as an orange. Even the new volumes (2012) have it as orange, so using the wrong color on the facings would be a very easy mistake. Frontline's 35th has orange facings. But apparently less than 10 years ago, the reenactor groups in England determined the correct facing color was very yellow - they found the actual preserved cloth. I am afraid that they would look very similar to Quebec's 28th release.

Britains has a glossy release of the 35th with the correct yellow facings and they have one with the regimental flag. Britains actually went through the expense of repainting figures that were originally done in the orange before they realized the mistake. Cheers to Britains and Richard.

Personally, hoping for a grouping of British Officers from each of various regiments at Ticonderoga - staff meeting etc. Besides Ticonderoga, great way to aid BoM officers via the backdoor --- the 44th was at BoM and Ticonderoga. And the scene would be relatively small and manageable, maybe 5 officers around a table ---- maybe some guards in the appropriate poses that would be a great backdoor for Raid on St Francis.

Betting on another packhorse release next month. Would not be suprised by more wagon and pack mule drivers. My leaning is for pieces that can be used in various series.

Next year, I expect to see a few personality releases and finally George in his red coat. Gage (Lt Col 44th, friend of Wahsington and the commander of the British troops in Boston during the early days of the American Revolution - Lexington) would be a nice touch. The need for a "new" regular officer is one of the more obvious holes in the BoM series and a Gage figure would work.

On the far outside and no reason to think it will happen soon or even ever, I would love to see a British 12-pounder (2- tail) to nearly complete the periods' British field artillery - four 12-pounders at BoM and three British 12-pounders at Fort William Henry. Of course, any garrison cannons would be very appreciated in the basement.

Guess we will know more in March with the London Show.

With all the new 20th Century Series, I have been reluctant to post any of my traditional WE NEED THIS posts or polls. When we were limited to a small period of time it made sense, but as JJD is now covering centuries, I am afraid that squabbles and arguing might arise. Bad manners and complaining are so not our thread, so without exception, everyone has remained civil.

Come March, I might change my mind!!!

Reading all the previous threads, I totally forgot about the EEC-5 and EEC-6 releases.

Really? Do you know where to find info on this? Interesting fact, I'd be curious about how they came to this conclusion :)

YESSS! George in RED!! Gage would be welcome as well!

I have heard from John and he has overcome his challenges with the Chinese factories and production is going better.
Some information that I feel can be shared:
New Ticonderoga figures will be out in the first half of 2013.
For Culloden new French and British Dragoons.
FIW a new British Regiment and new Indians.

I am sure many more additions to his ranges are coming. John is incredibly busy researching, sculpting and monitoring his factories but rest assured he listens to his customers!

I have to admit I have been waiting for these ranges to catch up..........FIW my favorite....!!!!!!!!!!

This is the correct color for the 35th. Britains has it right. Believe the correct cloth was found in a museum by one of the curators.

Thanks :smile2: I wonder what the backstory was.....how they discovered the cloth?.....how they know the cloth belonged to the 35th?.......was it lost, but has since been discovered? (I had to reword this question as to not sound like "amazing grace" :wink2:)........It must have been irrefutable evidence for Britains to repaint, I was just curious about the primary source. Thanks again :salute::

Can someone amend the 'Quite' to 'Quiet' in the title of this thread? It's starting to annoy me now.{sm2}

Assuming nysoliders's reporting is accurate, now I am excited. If a new FIW is coming my money might be on the 60th Royal Americans ---- would work for Ticonderoga, Quebec, Forbes Expedition Against Fort Duquesne, and Bushy Run!!!! The reason I am leaning in that direction is the facing color being blue and not yellow. The regiment was unusual in that there were 4 battalions, instead of the typical 1 for most regiments. One of the reasons why they got around. Because they were to be a North American regiment with wilderness postings, the lace of the uniforms was dropped.

As the uniform of Gage's Light Infantry are speculative, my guess is the Snazzy factor is not there.

Among the more famous members of the 60th was that noted Virginian, Major Duncan Heyward.

But if the 35th, we will have a wonderful time quoting from the Last of the Mohicans - film or book. So I will start!!!! A conversation between Major Heyward with response from Colonel Monro:

Our decision should be speedy," said Duncan, gladly availing himself of this change of humor, to press the more important objects of their interview; "I cannot conceal from you, sir, that the camp will not be much longer tenable; and I am sorry to add, that things appear no better in the fort; more than half the guns are bursted."

"And how should it be otherwise? Some were fished from the bottom of the lake; some have been rusting in woods since the discovery of the country; and some were never guns at all — mere privateersmen's playthings! Do you think, sir, you can have Woolwich Warren in the midst of a wilderness, three thousand miles from Great Britain?"

On second thought, quoting from the Last of the Mohicans might be a tad much even for me, so I promise to refrain and never do it again :rolleyes2::rolleyes2::rolleyes2: But you have to admit, Monro's lines would make a great signature!!!!
