The Spanish company, Alymer produced toy soldiers for years including the Banners Forward line. About 12 years ago they went bankrupt, but resumed production under new owners (the employees, I believe). Unfortunately, the "new" output was not very good; the painting was particularly bad. I have a number of sets from their AB (Alymer Boxed?) series of American Revolutionary War sets.

Photo one: A rather poor quality photo of the ARW sets on the bottom shelf, in three tiers, of a curio.

Photo two: AB93 Hessians from the Hesse-Kassel Regiment Von Rall.

Photo three: AB64 British Redcoats marching with flag.

Photo four: AB67 British Grenadiers standing firing.

Another nice display of Rev War figures by the Alymer co. Thanks for posting them. How do you remember the sets or regiments? Do you write the regiment under the stands? I have some sets of Britains that I don't remember unless I look them up in the book. Leadmen

While I generally can recall the regiments by state, I have to use my Alymer catalog and price sheets for the exact set numbers. However, I don't always remember the exact unit designation. For example, I knew it was the New Hampshire Regiment, but didn't remember that it was the 2nd New Hampshire. I do use small stickers under many of my sets of Nickolson, Edmund's, Blenheim, Kingcast, etc. sets. I pretty much know my Imperial sets by heart.

Mike your info on Alymer and review of the figures is I believe to be correct. The difference between "new" and "old" Alymer is like night and day. I am always looking for old Alymer ACW and Zulu war figures. There are some of the ARW artillery sets at the shop:)

I try to buy Alymer sets in person, so I can determine whether I am looking at an "old" Alymer set or a "new" one. I bought the George Washington & his aides set on eBay. Take a look at the painting of the faces. Its a "new" set! Ugh!

Are the aides older?

Perhaps, but I thought the overall was nice looking. Can you do a comparison of similar figures?

Not directly since I don't have another version of the Washington set. However, the British officer mounted set has much better quality painting, not only of the faces but also of the uniforms.
