His name is Gary Kross and there are several videos of him on youtube. Here is one where he is talking about "Pickett's Charge" and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It's almost as if he is reading it off paper.

Just finished watching the video. Great source of information. Thanks for posting !!!! :salute::

Thanks for posting, I also enjoyed viewing the video. I have been to the NC memorial and didn't know it was NC property. I spent a week in G'burg some yrs ago (many other visits as well), my youngest son and I attended many Park Service Ranger talks. It was a wonderful time culminated with the annual reenactment.

I also clicked on some of the other videos at the end of the one you posted. The Bentonville reenactment is a good one.

I did not know it was North Carolina's property either and I'm from NC myself! I have been to Gettysburg three times and am going back again this year. It would be my dream to live there one day.

Cameron, are you going for the 150th reenactment? I'm hoping to go even though the crowds will be unbelievable. Don't know if I will be able to make it yet.

Going to do a couple of Gettysburg dios in the next couple of weeks. Chris

Chris,
I have not really decided yet. I know I am going back this year, but if it will be for the 150th reenactment I don't know. I am not too excited about getting in what should be a HUGE crowd for sure. There is a toy soldier show at the end of April so I was thinking about going then...who knows.

Have you made your reservations if you're going to Gettysburg in July. I would imagine that if you didn't make them a long time ago, you're not going to get any, unless it's far away from Gettysburg, which is always an option.

What days in July does the reenactment take place??? 2nd 3rd,4th ???

I believe the reenactment dates are July 4-7 this year. The reenactment does not take place on the battlefield itself. You may want to do a quick Google search and buy tickets if you are sure that you will attend. As Brad said, with the 150th anniversary this year it's going to be a mob scene from July 1 onward and I suspect the few hotels in Gettysburg are sold out.

I think the same would apply to the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address.

Could be, but that's a little further out in November when the kids are back in school. I think they are anticipating about 10K or more reenactors on top of all the usual tourist flood for the July events. Given the tangle of roads in GB it's going to be dicey. There's a nice hotel about 10 mintues or so outside the town which they recently built in anticipation of the casino which was eventually quased. The Wyndham: http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/pennsylvania/gettysburg/wyndham-gettysburg/hotel-overview . In the winter the interior reminds me of "The Shining" - particularly the bar which is usually empty.
