I just received an e-mail that my Amazon Prime subscription will be
increased from $79 a year to $99. Still one of the best bargains
around. First increase in the nine years I've had it.

I just got an email confirming too that when my prime renews is July the rate is increasing from $79 to $99.
My rate increases in July 2014. So check your renewal dates!

I shop on amazon a lot so I feel like the discounted prices I get probably even out the membership fee.

I will probably still come out ahead but not sure. Its probably still worth it

I've always used standard shipping and never saw any need for this. It seems that Amazon has raised the price because of the cost of the video service that goes with Prime. Moreover, they apparently don't always meet the two day shipping requirement.

For me it is great, and I don't partake of the video service. Also, I've never had two day shipping missed.

At least one pundit projects Netflix will also increase their price. For what it is worth.

Oh well, during the time I've had Amazon Prime, my telephone bill has doubled, as has gasoline, my Cable,
and I could go on. :(
