I thought I'ld post a couple pics of my latest little 1/72 scale dio. It still has some work to be done on the base and I'm not really sure at this point if I'm going to put a cover on it or not. This was my first experiment with water and elevations.

The figure were borrowed from my 2nd Manassas dio. If I keep robbing from that one It's never going to get done.

Very impressive ground work and beautifully painted and detailed figures.

Looks very good. Especially like the waterworks - what product are you using for the stream? Very effective.

Thank you Gentlemen. I used a product for decapaging(sp). It's called Mod Podge by Plaid. Many, many light coats.

Enjoy it as much seeing it for the second time as I did the first Captain over at The Bunker Captain... The Lt.

eborris, the dimensions are roughly; 10 1/2 in. X 14 1/2 in. It uses the same styrefoam base as the "Musket dio" and some others I have done.

Very nice Captain,

The stream looks very effective. I have used that modge podge before for sealing some figures, never thought of using it for a stream.

Thanks for the tip !!

Be sure to use the "Gloss Luster" if using it for water. Thanks for the kind words ya'll. It keeps me inspired!

Here's an "in-process" picture that shows the Mod Podge product. I got it at Wal-mart. I dont really know how it compares to other products as this is the first time I ever made water.

Impressive Captain- I cut my teeth painting hundreds of those little fellows back in the gas-lamp age but yours definitely look a lot superior than my early efforts.

The ACW being my pash-a historical question-
Was there ever an ambush at Bunker's Ford? I only ask because I cannot recall reading about it-not that that counts for much as there were dozens of mini-skirmishes during the 4 years that are now generally forgotten.
Just wondered if it was a local Virginia scrap and if so who was involved?

No UKReb. There was no Bunker's Ford Ambush. That is just what I call this dio for personal reasons. My ulimate goal is a huge dio in 1/72 of a local dust up called the "Battle of Cloyds Mountain". All my mini-dios are learning excersizes to help me eventually reach that point. It will include Mountains, river, creeks, Two small towns, railroads, bridges and, trestles. Cloyd's Mountain (or Cloyd's Farm as the yankees called it) is quite an interesting little known battle that occured in May of '64 and was part of Grant's "Overland Campaign". I'm sure you would enjoy reading about it if you can find anything on it. Material is out there but requires a little digging.

Now that's one I do know Pulaski County between George Crook and Jenkins who I believe lost his arm and died soon after. Only took an hour but one hell of a scrap and if I remember with quite high casualty lists as was per usual with Grant's campaigns.

Thought I was slipping never having heard of Bunker's Ford. Thanks for the explanation.

I am impressed UKReb. There aren't very many folks that know of that battle. There were also two future U.S. Presidents that fought in it. Yes, Jenkins died when an orderly bumped his turnicate loose while he was a prisoner and he bled to death. It is also supposed to have one of the highest per-capita casualty rates of all the battles of the war. My avatar is of my personal 6-pdr sitting the on the same ground as the Confederate guns sat during that battle. I was putting on a Living History and artillery demonstration for the Boyscouts there a few years back. I'm sure it was the first time in one hunded and forty some years that artillery was fired on that spot.

UKReb I've been privy to another of the Captain fictional stories along with his figures and he's quite a talented fiction writer......The Lt.

I dare say that UK Reb is our expert on the Civil War here, both North and South.

Nice work Cap, keep those 1/72nd scale dioramas coming.

I love the ground work! The figures are great too. Please post more photos.
Thanks
Benjamin
