Anyone interested in this topic should read Public Enemies by Bryan Burrough. A great book about the crime sprees in 1933-34 that led to Hoover's rise to power. Dillinger, Bonnie and Clyde, Barker Gang, Pretty Boy Floyd all operating at the same time in the midwest. Now if we can only convince Andy to read it and give us something new and different. Think gangster collector's figures.

Good idea. If it went ahead I reckon Johngambale would soon be asking for more Italians like Al Capone :)

Famous outlaws of an earlier area such as the 1860's may also be popular such as Billy the Kid etc, in Australia we had Bushrangers like Ned Kelly. But maybe the "The Wild Scotchman" or "Mad Dog Morgan" would be more to Andy C's taste: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bushranger ;)

Well, we have the LAH series, and the American Gangsters' exploits pale in comparison so why not?

At the Chicago Show, Andy was telling me how he would love to make a series on the Gangster Movies from the 30's, with Bogie, Edward G. Robinson, etc., but he can't because obtaining the rights would be prohibitively expensive. I guess he could make the real thing instead of the movie version.

How about one of Dillinger polishing the wooden gun he used to break out of prison? BTW: Pat, Peter and co. most of these guys operated in your backyard - Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, etc.

And the old "Untouchables" series (season 1) w/Robert Stack is now available on DVD. That was a great show.
