American Napoleonics (1 Viewer)

The War of 1812 ....... isn't that when the British were fairly busy taking on some Corsican dude (ogre, midget ?) in Europe. Not fair !!!
I guess the Corsican fellow can't have been that bright as he sold Louisiana for next to nothing ....... or perhaps he was very clever. Depends on your point of view.
Regards Brett
PS Please accept our apologies for the behaviour of the nasty Englishman in The Patriot movie. Very un-Britishlike. However must have been revenge against Mel Gibson for melting toy soldiers to shoot at English soldiers.

They got what they deserved - I am glad Me Gibson finally told the truth about those nasty British - I found his film more of a documentary on the American Revolution and Mel as a great historian.

That should get it started......;)

:D:D
And you forgot about not insulting people's National Anthems.........!!!!???? :D:D
Ooooh Heid, that was also rather naughty.....

And it certainly shall get it started. Shall revisit this one after I talk to my lawyer.....:eek::eek::)

I charge £200 per hour Harry,toy soldiers don't buy themselves you know;)!

Sorry Rob, my lawyer advises I shouldn't get involved in Brit v Ham Shank on this occasion.
Bit disappointed in Ron dragging up this "Done to Death One" actually. :)
A much more creative, interesting and entertaining argument could have been started with the statement;
UFO's? Do they exist? Or is it all just a load of $**te?

Oh okay then Ron, back to territory you're more comfortable with....Patton was a poof and so was Napoleon.....:eek::D. Whereas Monty and Wellington were the epitomy of brave, and superior British Generalship....!!!! :D:eek:

Mulberry Miniatures is still in business after his factory flooded out and a life threathening illness, put him out of commission for about 3 years. The owner is a friend of mine and still makes and paints figures. But , he is a one man show right now on ebay and is up against the wall ,trying to keep the sets flowing , in a timely manner. He does almost exclusively Nappy's at this time. Michael

Michael, thanks for the update. Do you know if your friend is still capable of producing his 1812 figures? Can you pm me his ebay name or email address?

Och Rob, I was just poking a bit of fun Ron's way.....but I do know what you mean. I wasn't actually questioning whether either General swung to the left or to the right. I think the word "poof" tends to be used a little differently in Scotland. We generally mean it as a sightly derogatory term when we're disagreeing with someone, or slagging some poor $od off, as in;

"Och, away and no be such a poof, of course ABBA were better than Brotherhood of Man".
Or;
"Aye, yon poof supports Heart of Midlothian fitba team".

Substitute "numpty", "numbskull", etc. for "poof" and it'll usually mean the same thing - the words are virtually interchangeable. Amazing the things you learn on this forum, innit? :):)
Suppose these musings really belong in a different section though. :eek::eek:

Loved Tex's response though, "Patton was a poof??? He was the Anti-Poof",,,Classic quick thinking I thought....LOL :D

Harry

Isnt it said in Scotland - Only one Poof knows another Poof ?? ;)

You seem to be poofing alot !! :eek: :eek:

Hi Ron,
The saying is actually "It takes one to know one". Given the job you do, I would expect you to be acquainted with plenty of left-footers of various nationalities. Seriously though as I've explained, I used the term in a slightly derogatory manner rather than a reference to the two General's, hmmm....orientation.
Hey....Who am I to critisise? Ha-Ha...Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha :D:D:eek:

I have been asking for 1812 for years..they are VERY colorful....British and American uniforms...NOT TO MENTION THE NATIVES!!!!!

Very interresting time in North American History!!!!! Someone is really missing out on this line.

Funny.... there is no such thing as American Napoleonics.

WELLINGTON

Funny.... there is no such thing as American Napoleonics.

Yeah, I know. It makes sense though--American troops from the Napoleonic era. We fought both the Brits and French at various points in the period.
(In truth, I only called it "American Napoleonics" because I figured it would attract more readers than "War of 1812";))

No problem.....truthfully the War of 1812 has always been my favorite subject far beyond Napoleonics....where I live there are many British Forts, Naval yards as well as Battle Fields of 1812.

WELLINGTON

I picked up some 54mm Matte American Infantry (13th Regiment) when I was at the Armoury in London. As I recall they were exclusive. These were painted in Russia. I picked up 6. The style was meant to complement Frontline. I may have to dig up a picture for you if you like.
