How hard is it to find the Continental Cannon and the British Cannon, I have the gun crews, but not the cannons as they were separate items.

Tom

Extremely Hard - Very Valuable items those Cannons and they fetch a very high price when they rarely hit ebay - sorry.

Hi mate I have Ar26 & Ar34 down stairs doing nothing.I collected them a couple of years ago but now I only collect WW2.I too would be interested in what it maybe worth to sell or swap for WW2 items. If anyone could let me no what dollar value I could get for them I would be pleased to hear from them.

Not sure if your right here (Brad would be the best to ask) myself and Mike dont think they would be worth a great deal.

We had a good number of them until they went discontinued, infact we sold four of each to a guy in OZ, was'nt you Simpson was it?

But they did hang around for a while so not sure if they will be sought after.

It goes to show i always reccommened to a new collector buy what you like now as you can always get the stuff your not that bothered about later.

I kind of thought they were not that valuable, I know I have seen the gun crews go higher, I just have been unlucky with the actual cannon.

I dont think I am wrong on this point - I collect The American Revolution Range and from my experiences they are diffulcult to locate or buy.

Now if you anyone one else have some AWI Cannons available for a cheap price - please prove me wrong - and I will gladly buy them from you. :D ;)

I would defer to Ron on this point as I don't follow the AR material but I do remember there was an auction a month or two ago that involved a cannon that I think went for a high price. I also agree that they don't appear often.

Brad,
The auction that went ballistic was the special Cannon set made for the California Bank that was won by a gentleman from Saudi Arabia, I know this b/c I got outbid on it and he ended up buying one of my dupes I was selling and we discussed it! I won the other special Bank with the "Dont Tread on Me" flag that he fortunately overlooked!

I think I have located the cannon, but anybody else who has one and wants to part with it, please contact me.

Thanks
Tom

Like Tom said, the auction involved a very special item and the price it reached was well deserved (btw, congratulations Tom for your acquisition).

What is a cheap price and a high price will vary from a collector to another one. The cheaper is the collector, the higher the price will be.

What really delimits a cheap price and a high price on the secondary market is the market itself. It is sufficient to regularly watch eBay to know instantly what is a good deal and what is an aberration. There was a good example of that with a napoleonic figure recently (that may rises the problem of ghost bidders and fake bids).

While I agree that the cannons do not show often on eBay, I do not recall that they reached prices that prohibit their purchase.

For example, in April 2006, I sold a British Howitzer set (BR14) for 149,00$ on eBay.

Considering that the retail price at the release time was 105,00$, I do not think that we can call that a high price. It was a fair price, determined by the market.

Pierre.

Pierre, good points for sure. I think main point is the cannons don't appear that much and I still get confused on how they were sold, I know there is individual numbers for both cannon and crews, but there were also sets sold too, right?

Ron, when is the Gettyburg trip, I am about an 1hour south in Maryland.

Tom

I have both cannons mint in their boxes, I believe they are rare as well ever since they were shown in the Napoleonic Displays with the farm house in conjunction with the fact they were discontinued around the same time, so both Napoleonic collectors and American Revolution collectors want them.

I would be willing to trade both of them for the French and British Napoleonic cannon crew sets. If someone is interrested in this please send me a P.M.

Thanks
