WOW! An Arnhem Series AN06 just went off on Ebay for $885! It was in

nice condition but the paint was a little tired. It had the original box, but

was missing its Original Certificate and the Lee-Enfield rifle.

In my opinion, a very nice piece, and a wonderful addition to a collection

if as I do you admire this series.

There were 4 principal bidders.......(I was left in the dust as I watched the

price skyrocket!) The early bidder put in a terrific high bid 6 days ago and

held the auction till the final 10 seconds! The agressive bidder came in with

aprox 4 minutes left, bid 11 times in 1:47 and took the price up to $600+.

The big boys showed up with 10 seconds left $875, and 4 seconds $885!

A great auction, with happy folks all around......I assume! I know I enjoyed

watching!

Great write up! You should have a column...

Speaking of Arnhem, I just lost the original Battle of the Bridge in the final 7 seconds today to the French. We must have another Pat44Rouge taking up formation. I got shot right out of the sky!!!!!!!

Tom:

Don't feel to bad, first it wasn't stated that it had the important certificate

and second higher prices will bring more sets to the marketplace, which will

give buyers additional opportunities to add items to their collections!

Something sitting in a closet, or under a bed does us no good. Personally I

enjoy the opportunity to see items, and maybe......just maybe have a crack

at a nice item or two!

Too rich for my blood. The trailer went for $486 yesterday! I have the two figures from the trailer (wonder how much they're worth) but not the trailer. C'est la guerre. Thank goodness K & C has made a new jeep and trailer.

Agree, plus you win some, lose some. I recently hit San Juan hill and the rarer figures from RR series at a nice price, so can't complain too much.

There are bargains out there, I think the art is in the search (Ebay key words)!

Yes you did! Also one of our Forum's Finest! Also had a set go off to our

friends from France! With two more big auctions set to go off tomorrow it

could be a $2,000 two day total for the "New" Collector from France. Having

a fairly high feedback number he is hardly new......I just hadn't seen him

before.

Every new collector is one more item that will be carefully handled and

stored with care! After all the leaky basements, and steaming attics I have

found damaged items in.....new collectors are always a welcomed addition to

the hobby!

It seems that France is a bit of a growth spot for toy soldiers especially K and C. I wonder whether this will influence the output of K and C. We already have French Resitance so I wonder whether some more Francophone themes may not be forthcoming in the next few years. We have had a heavy Anglo-Saxon and German bias in figures so it will be interesting

The euro is kicking the dollars butt these days, so I expect French and other European collectors will be expanding their collections accordingly. Andy is a smart business man, hence the Napoleonic French and WWII French releases in recent months.

Ebay used to be a cheaper place to pick up items, but at the moment there are fewer and fewer bargains on ebay.....driven I think as you say by our european cousins..the dollar still hasn't bottomed out yet and has fallen a hell of a lot and the euro (and the australian dollar against the US but not the euro) is having a right old time of it.
Which is making the primary market much more attractive than the secondary market ...keep em coming Andy:D
