Andy,
When you post your next "Bits 'n' Bobs" thread can you include the current status of the Chinese Pirate Junk that you hinted at during Chicago? I think a recent show / Q&A session report said that you had received some preliminary pix of a potential Junk model for production. What's the scoop... was it feasible and/or plans for the introduction of this model still stalled? Or are we getting closer to it's introduction and should I start saving my pennies?

cheers

Jules

LOL.... yeah, been there done that... started when it was (again) hinted at about 18 months ago, then nothing and it appeared that Andy missed my question in the various threads where I asked. Eventually I gave up and bought some plane tickets for a couple of vacation/overseas trips (although I almost bought the Figarti HMS Victory model instead).

Considering the current prices, I don't think that a Chinese Junk will be that cheap and if K&C do release one I'll want it, so if one is definitely in the pipeline I'll start preparing (saving) to acquire one. But if that's the priority then other spending will need to be curtailed/controlled in preparation which means I'll have to miss out on some other pleasures along the way. That's cool if the model is likely to be a reality in the foreseeable future, but not if it's still too difficult to produce and not yet in the pipeline.

Hence my question, just to get an idea of where development and/or production currently stands.

Or am I the only person interested in this? ;)

Jules mate,
I am interested in this Pirate Junk also, because I wanted it in a Dio with my San Pablo gunboat. Pirates attacking will spice up this Dio nicely. Last time I raised this subject with Andy the answer was, Yes it is coming. So be patient cobber.^&grin

Hi Guys,
Many thanks to Jules 118 for the reminder… Here’s the story so far… On the day I left for the Chicago Show the first two samples arrived (unpainted)… Upon my return from the U.S. yours truly and one of our master painters sat down and worked on a colour scheme… Which we then implemented… The now fully repainted model has now gone back to the factory for them to copy and send us at least two “counter-samples”… That process will taken 30-45 days depending on just how busy they are. Once approved we will go into production. That usually means another 45-60 days.
In the meantime we are working on a bunch of crew figures. Three have been designed and carved… a bunch more will be given to our sculpting team next week.
There’s a lot more I could show you and tell you… but then I’d have to kill you… and that’s not good for company/customer relations… sorry!
Best wishes and … happy sailing!

Cheers Andy,

Just the kind of int update I was hoping for... and the fact that it looks like it finally may happen is fantastic news. {sm3} Time to start saving pennies and making plans methinks. Thanks for the speedy reply Andy :D:D
