On Saturday night, at Hogan's Hotel in the quiet country town of Wallan, just north of Melbourne, Howard Woods hosted the 6th Annual K&C Melbourne Meet’n’Greet & Dinner. A record number of visitors attended with some coming from most states of Australia.

Andy Neilson was in his usual jovial form and enjoyed meeting his loyal customers and getting and giving feedback about his range of military miniatures.

The highlight of the night was the showing on the CENTURION tank, which was centerpiece of a new diorama base that Howard had commissioned form one of his local collectors.

Another diorama showed 3 new M113 carriers with an infantry patrol crossing a bridge and also on show was a collection of small arms and uniforms from this period.

The quest speaker, Colonel Adrian Roberts, RAAC (retired) who was, in 1966, the 3 APC Troop Leader at the Battle Of Long Tan, but unfortunately couldn't attend, so we were addressed by his radio operator Jock McCormack who gave us an eye witness description of the action at that infamous battle in the Vietnam War.

There was also an address from Howard about the future of "The Toy Soldier Experience", but I will let him expand on that, and the usual address by Andy witha lively Question & Answer session.

Thanks for another wonderful night, and full weekend Howard,

John

Thanks John, looks like a magic night. That sitting prisoner guy, looking to add him to my Aussie's in Vietnam series. Your photos have offered a tantalising glimpse of this series. That tank is a stand out. Robin.

Wow, those dioramas of Howards really come alive with all those vehicles on it, only a little imagination is needed to fill in the heat, dust, roar of the engines, smell of dung and diesel and the crackle of small arms fire.

Excellent pic's young John, thanks for posting and I also like the second dio with the bridge. I must ask though, but was young Howard playing a prank on Andy in one of the pic's??? ^&grin
