Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. Reading all of your replies made me smile. And yes Rossim1, I am a Joy division fan. I was listening to them at the time I joind the forum so I thought I'd steal the lead singers name. :)
Welcome aboard Ian, glad to see another Napoleonic (and Joy Division) fan on the forum.

The EMPEREUR Welcomes YOU !

Thanks again guys :)! Even a welcome from the empereur, wow! I've not sussed out how to put multiple quotes into a reply yet but to answer the few questions some people asked. To Thebaron the answer is yes, or at least I have tried painting some soldiers in the past. When I was younger I used to love airfix models and over the years (about 100 spitfires later) I got pretty good at painting those. I'd love to get back into painting soldiers though.

Ian,if you should ever be able to get down to the London show we have a get together of British Treefroggers in the bar, would be great to have you with us.

Rob

And cheers for the invite mate, if I get the chance I'd certainly be up for it :) Well I better start earning my worth on this forum, I'll try and post some photos of my collection asap.

Hi, Ollie, a tip on multiple quotes--I open up Notepad and paste the HTML tags and text into it, then paste the whole thing back into a single post.

If you hit the Quote button, you can see the tags I mean: square bracket, command, "QUOTE", then the user name of the person you're quoting, and the post ID. Unfortunately, I haven't found a faster way to get that info for each item I'd want to quote, apart from hitting Quote to open the new reply window, copying the text out, and then canceling and navigating back to the thread, to select the next post. The thick point is getting the post number for the individual post.

Another technique that I've seen guys use, a kind of Net shorthand, is to use the "at" symbol-@, and the poster's name, and respond to a bunch in one post. So:

"@Joe--thanks, you're right
@Bill--go pound sand (though that's treading into infraction territory, so it's a bad example :D )
@Sue--wow! a woman who collects toy soldiers!"

and so on.

Hope that helps, prost!
Brad
