Hmmmm...I think I could go a movie with Uma Thurman single handedly taking down the Third Reich. Purely for it's historical accuracy you understand.

....and The Patriot
I can't believe our British brothers burned down that church with all of those people in it. Ya'll were awful.
Actually I enjoy watching the Patriot, dispite its obvious flaws. It is a movie and not supposed to be a documentary. It has a villain, which is not the "British Army" but one rather evil Dragoon, who even has an historical parallel. It has likeable characters, fine acting (especially by the British) interesting diologue and interesting battle scenes. By contrast, Wind Talkers has no redeeming values. But in movies, as in many other things, there are different opinions and different folks chose to focus on whatever aspects they like.....and The Patriot
I'm not really sure what a real war movie is supposed to be like.
Perhaps the hero could panic, cower, wet his pants and simply hope for the best whilst firing blindly.
I saw a doco once that suggetsed less than 5% of infantry soldiers in battle actually shoot an enemy soldier with a rifle.
As a former regular army soldier myself I could see how that is possible, but it would make for a pretty boring movie.
I am not so sure if it has been completely lost. To me, Master and Commander and Silverado are excellent movies that should be place at the top of their genres. I never tire of watching them."Pearl" and "Flyboys" are a couple of notable duds. Hollywood seems to have lost the knack for making good westerns and war films. Those genres were usually formula pictures for smaller target audiences that the economics doesn't allow for anymore. Now we get big stars and message movies to broaden the audience which, of course, never works.
