The deed is done :(

I have fallen into the WWII trap - I bought my first WWII Tank today - the Sherman 105 (DD45) - its offical, I am hooked.

The bad boy is displaying himself in my living room and looking great.

**** it - I didn't want to become poor this soon.

Oh well - another one bites the dust.

Ron :D

Ron, don,t feel bad. Back in 2002 I bought 3 sets of K&C Marines, my first metal purchase ever.
I was into plastics.
I told myself that is all I would collect, Marines.
Well 5 years later, and thousands of dollars later, I have just about collected every line K&C does, minus the Egyptian, China, and the latest Napolianics, and crusaders. Althought I,m trying to figure out how I can get those.
They have methadone for heroin addicts, what do they have for K&C addicts?
Your right **** it, we only live once. And I do not regret one dollar I have spent.

Its a hard life being addicted to King and Country.

My finacee bought me a beautiful new large Curio for my Office - this thing is a monster - sooooo much room. So I guess I am lucky to have a girl backing the hobby - but, I am not sure she knows how deep this well goes    - you know what I mean.....

Man that Sherman 105 is sweet and I am already trying to place it fighting the AK units in a Patton vs AK fight. Americans were in North Africa too - Andy ! (just in case he is reading this)

Still Napoleonics are the love of my life :D

Ron

They maybe the love of your life, but your having a WW2 affair!.Knew you'd join us Ron,welcome aboard!

Rob

Tee hee........I still haven't cracked for Napoleonics.....yet......but the 'charge' is a problem to many   :D

Ron,

The question is: are you going to collect all the ranges? That gets fairly expensive. Secondly, are you going for the retired items. That gets very expensive.

I have the charge - ohhhhh ahhhhhhh - it looks so good. Now that Andy has come out with new French 3rd Line Troops - oh wow it is a scene to admire.

Brad:

I thought about it and NO - I am not going after the retired AK stuff - with the recent machine gun set going for over $300 - its just crazy - I am going to collect the AK Stuff as it comes out now. If I get lucky on ebay (doubtful with our European friends out there) or find something at a Show - so be it, great - but, if not - no sweat. I believe that is the best course. On the DD-Day - maybe a piece here and there. On BB - I havent made up my mind? I saw that you can still buy all the American Figures for the BB at Treefrog - but, I am really not into that - but a complete set could be worth having - still undecided.

What about you? What are you collecting?

Ron

Ron I would call you a traitor but I crumbled before you did! I bought some FOV and 21st stuff earlier this week. Ah well:eek:

Welcome Ron, what took you so long!:p
Just a couple of points for you to think over. It is often joked about when chaps go on holiday to North Africa that they can always sell their wifes for a few camels. Well if your other half gets to be to unsupportive about your first love, you could always ask Andy if he wants to make a deal for the AK camels;)
With regards to American armour in North Africa, in Novembers After the Battle this was featured heavily. It would be great if maybe some of the vehicles already in production could be re released desertized as with the Vickers tank. Did I mention that most of the photos were from a German photographer and Rommels men were putting the vehicles to good use:eek:
Ok there was also a captured Dingo or two.

Ron,

I collect all the World War II ranges, both matte and glossy, except Sands of Iwo Jima. That range never did it for me. World War II is about 90 percent of my collection. I also collect the Warbirds. I have 3 of those (with another on the way) plus the polystone Corsair.

I collect Nelson's Navy, Royal Navy, Rough Riders and The West (just started down that slippery path).

I also collect all the King and Country glossy, except Streets of Hong Kong, a beautiful range, but one requiring a big investment. However, I have a handful of the glossy sets, maybe a dozen sets.

Besides K & C, I have a couple of Britains sets (the paras), two Figarti Honeys (awesome tanks) and three Honour Bound sets (the first Panther ever made -- I have a certificate -- and the two Field Kitchens, one being the one made last year -- a fantastic set -- and the other scheduled to arrive Tuesday).

You didn't ask but of everything I've collected these are probably my favorites, the first two K & C, the last Motion Models.

Oh, and I forgot, the First of the Few and the Ground Crew are up there also. Not the best photo but you get the idea. Also included in there is the Clark Gable figure.

Funny you ask but I just dusted it. For that whole area, which is only half, the rest is AK and EA, about 45 minutes. It's just taking them off and then putting them back on again that's a pain. I need a cabinet but I need to room for that as well.

Well, well, well, it final has happened:eek: A lobbyist has finally proven IT is human. Now IT must prove ITSELF is a man and admit the addiction that brought IT to this point. Remember Ron, “resistance is futile.” There are so many ranges and so many display cabinets to fill and so many dioramas to complete. So come on, admit your addiction. You will feel soooo much better:D :p :)
