Dear Rob:

Thanks for your book information. As I recall (without trying to find it if I still have it) I read a book by Anthony Beevor some time ago which I think was on the last months of the Third Reich or the last months of Berlin in 1945. As I further recall the book was interesting.

Hey IB,

Yes he's a very good author, his Berlin book is indeed a great read and I also have his other books on Stalingrad and Crete, very much looking forward to his new one . Cheers

Rob

Not to take away his thunder but I'd be hardpressed to see how he could top Leningrad: State of Siege by Michael K. Jones, which concentrates on what the residents suffered. An excellent book and one of the best books I've read this year.

Harrison Salisbury 900 days the siege of Leningrad was much better IMO after having read both.

Am looking forward also to the biography of *Patrick Leigh Fermor by Beevor's wife Artemis Cooper.

She's also the author of the excellent Cairo in the War which I'm rereading now, and coauthor with her husband of Paris After the Liberation.

[*You can read about Fermor's WWII exploits in After the Battle No. 47: The
Kidnapping of General Kreipe
and in Ill Met By Moonlight by W. Stanley Moss.]
