I love the TSSD Plains Indians, but what we really need are some Chieftains and veteran warriors with war bonnets and some shields and feathered war lances. These items were trademarks of the Plains people. I'd also like a couple more buffalo headdresses. I was kind of surprised not to see any in the sets. Was it a sculpting issue? To tell the truth, I have only bought one of the sets so far because the lack of available chiefs (except bareheaded Crazy Horse) kind of discourages me. I have seen some very good warbonnets and shields done in 1/32 before, notably in the Airfix and Deetail lines and of course, the Marx mounted chief with the double-tail warbonnet and feathered lance. Jean Hoefler and Elastolin also made very good figures with warbonnets. I would really love to have some TSSD elite warriors. Does anyone think there is a market for foot and mounted Plains Indian Command sets from TSSD? I know for sure I would buy them.

Of course, what I meant is that I was surprised not to see war bonnets and shields and feathered lances. I know there was one man with a buffalo headdress.

Use the Marx heads to make Conversions.

Those look great, Denver! Unfortunately, I lack a dremel tool and the few experiences i have had hacking away at 54mm necks and torsos with an X-Acto have been tragic and very hard on my fingers.

I know the man on the right is Crazy Horse's upper body on mounted legs, and the Chief's head is the Marx chief as you said, but which figure is the torso from? It doesn't look like Marx or TSSD. Did it come with the spear and shield, or did you add them from another source? The style of the torso and weapons kind of remind me of a higher than usual quality Hong Kong figure set from the 90s that was roughly based on the Airfix Indians. I used to have them with a fold-out saloon and stagecoach set I picked up at Toys R Us about 1996.

The torso and head are New Ray.
The legs are Marx 60mm Apache rider.
I made some with the Marx Chief torso,
but they went a few Westcoasters ago.

Hi I asked DeAnna and Nick at TSSD about this also as it seems strange they wouldnt at least have a few war bonnets , shields ect so maybe it was a manufacturing thing ? And I wouldve loved a true 7th Cavalry officer set with WW Cooke , Keogh and Tom Custer ect kinda like BMC did but their product was so poorly molded.

PS: I thought I found a cool fix for the no gauntlet issue but the Paragon figure all have tiny heads so how didnt quality control catch this as Im not at the stage of doing conversions yet plus I liked their Head sculpt look as is but just to tiny heads and small bodies to blend with TSSD so what a waste and the scouts sets also .

Denver - nice conversions! Excellent workmanship.

Im a purist and prefer non modded figures accept for the basic ones but I agree the only thing TSSD Custer's Last Stand set is missing variety of the soldiers and Indians with chiefs with warbonnets and you can use Paragons because of the pin heads and poor scale .
