Gents,

Taking a little trip to Seattle on Christmas to New Years eve. Besides hanging out with my vegan in-laws, Sasquatch and being cold I was hoping to do a little shopping. So, are there any Toy Soldier Shops in Seattle that any one knows of? Please, please let me know!

John from Texas

PS: I am taking my own Tabasco, salsa, chips and a couple of fajita skirts.

No TS shops in Seattle or anywhere else in the State of Washington that I am aware of and I have lived her for nearly 70 years. Lots of other stuff to do and a decent military museum at Fort Lewis , 30 miles south of Seattle

Hey 4th,

Man that's shocking! I wonder why? I guess I'll have to come hang out with you! Speaking of stuff to do, I will make it a point to check out the Museum. Is there anything else you suggest while I am there?

lots of stuff. Paul Allen ( EX Microsoft) has a Museum of retored warbirds at Paine field. best check aheadon hours/ days it is open. Right in Seattle at Boeing field there is an excellent Museum of flight. If you are interested in rock music the EMP (Experience Music Project) is F...ing Awesome. Warning the traffic sucks, which is why I retired to the other side of the State

Yep, no TS store in Seattle and in WA for that matter (but we have the internet :wink2:). If you like cars there is a cool museum in Tacoma: http://www.lemaymuseum.org/ and yes we have plenty of rain to enjoy too! :rolleyes2: If you have a withdrawn of meat, just PM me and I will give you some good restaurants names including French ones :smile2: Welcome to the Pacific NW!

John:

Just be forewarned, they have this strange, water-like substance that falls from the sky. I think it is called rain?

Gents,

Thanks for advice and recommendations! Yeah, checked the weather in Seattle and rain, rain, rain. I did pack my sunglasses though. Stark contrast to San Antonio today with blue sun shiny skies. Anywho, leaving in a few hours already broke out the Crown Royal Reserve and Iced down the Dos Equis! I told my brother-in-law I am bringing a hibachi for their veggie burgers and our real ones.

First time in the Pac-West so I am looking forward to it! We will be back on New Years Eve and will be stopping by to pick up some fajitas and fireworks...all in that order.

I'll post when I am there.

John:

I will hold down San Antonio while you are out.

Best,
Jason

Ahhhhhh, a little nippy last night! However, when we flew in to Seattle the view was AWESOME!!!! The City lights with the Moon in the background...WOW! I am sad there are no Toy Soldiers shoppes though. But for heavens sakes there is a Bikini Barrista coffee shop every other block!!

Happy landing John! FYI The weather is going on the cooler side and a little drier side too with even some snow around New Year...If you have time go visit Pike Place Market: http://www.pikeplacemarket.org/ in downtown Seattle. The Chihuly Garden and Glass museum is very cool too: http://www.chihulygardenandglass.com/

Fellas,

Went to the Bellevue Mall yesterday...WOW what a town. They had everything at that mall with the exception of a Toy Soldier Shop...so sad. Anywho, very neat city that is almost futuristic looking. Very nice. But, good lord it gets dark here early!

Went to Korea Town last night and had some awesome Gal Bi beef ribs. Oh, and another thing there is WEED shops...I forgot it was legal here! I am doing more explaining to my kids than ever about the socio-economic political climate in the State of Washington.

John, glad you have a good time in the Emerald city and surrounding suburbs! Yes Bellevue has changed a lot in 20 years. One other cool thing to see with the kids on the eastside is Snoqualmie falls: http://www.snoqualmiefalls.com/ and a little bit further is our closest ski resort: http://www.summitatsnoqualmie.com/ There is snow and the tubing is open!

Fellas,

Hit Pikes today, the gum wall and Chinatown...neat places and finally some sunshine!!! One thing that totally tripped me out though-we were walking back to our car(s) and I passed a guy who had a bag of weed and was selling it in broad daylight to people. Yeah, on a busy downtown street out in the open. Good lord I had to shield the kids from witnessing it, but no avail my kids witnessed a partially legal drug deal go down right in front of us. I gotta tell you this has been one long lecture trip to my kids about laws, the "will of the people" and different states of minds.

Another thing that blew me away were all the tents on the highway medians. Guys there are "tent cities" of homeless folks all over the highways. The last time I saw that was in the Philippines and they just set up shop on the side of the highway in front of a high rise. I have never seen so many indigents out in the open like that in a city with the exception of Los Angeles, CA. But, those tent cities were a trip as there were ALOT of them right smack dab in the middle of downtown Seattle...wow.

Tomorrow Stevens Pass and on New Years Eve back to San Antone for (you guessed it) fajitas and fireworks...in that order.

Whenever I hear about Seattle I think of the Perry Como song of the same name and the comedy series Frasier. My parents had 'Seattle' on a '45'. Anyone else old enough to remember them?

Jack:

I have never heard that song, but I watched Frasier, it is one of my favorite shows.

Seattle is a city I would love to live in but the wife will never do it.

Well Gents, I am outta here today! It has been a very nice visit and also an eye opener. Yesterday I got the stomach flu and chilled at my brother in laws house while the gang went to Stevens Pass. Nice place to visit and may come back sometime, but in the summer because it is freaking cold here.

John,
Glad you enjoyed your trip, but I don't know why you ordered the cold weather. I just got home from our excursion to Mexico, went from 80 to 11 degrees. Must have snowed, melted then froze cause my driveway is a sheet of ice. Come on back in the summer which in Seattle is the middle two weeks of August.

Ahh Yes the Great North Wet! spent 6 years as a child in portland and 2 years ago had a football weekend for the Seahawks Vs. Ravens in November, talk about dark! now I know why all those vampires live in the Northwest!
Have a safe trip,
Ray
