Anyone building a square (1 Viewer)

I have just noticed that the bases of the Highlanders appear thicker than those of the Gaurds perhaps this could be the source of your concern perhaps ??

I ve spent the last few hours scrutinising these figures and trying to workout why some of them look bigger than the foot guards. The kneeling Scotsmen just seem bigger although there torsos are the same as the foot guards torsos, dont know if its the kilts or what that gives them this effect,kneeling firing is just a very big lad I think.

They actually do look ok in the square, I think it's just a couple of the figures that look bigger because some certainly are notNAP 88 and NAP 264 are the same size.

Now that I am looking at them individually there does nt look much in it but Collectiely as a group they seem bigger.

Anyway whoever is going to buy them don't be put off by what I said just buy them and decide for yourself.

I have 10 guards and 4 highlanders8 or so more on the way) and I've just checked all of them.. Most the standing guards I have have their knee flexed so some of them if put side by side with the standing highlanders will look 0.5 mm or so smaller... but the highlanders have their back very straight... and one is the obese guy... I display them side by side and I don't see any difference really...

The only FL figures I do own which are a little bit different from the others size wise are the ones from the french artillery set (earlier release).. but that's it :)

Cheers,

Alex

It's not those figures we re talking about it's the new fighting Gordons

Iwan
I understand that but my comment and photo of the square applies to both, as does Matt's comment. I don't have the new ones yet but in the meantime if you want to email me the photos you have I will post them for you. Just PM me for my email.

Really nice collection mate. I am glad you were able to find a way to post them. At their size and prospective, it is hard to see much of a difference between the fancy Scottish bonnets. I see hints of it here and there but nothing I could call definitive. I should have a batch of new ones myself by next week and needless to say I am eagar to see them side by side in person. Anyway, thanks for posting these shots and congratulations on you fine square; I am rather jealous, I only have 50 Guards plus 8 more Highlanders coming shortly.{eek3}^&grin

Beautiful collection .. Looks GREAT {bravo}} any chance you have an aerial picture of the square ?? also I see hints of a rather large formation of French line moving in :wink2: Thanks for sharing Regards Gebhard

Hello,
I did some comparison photos.
As in life, every human is different: small, big, big, thin ..... etc. ..;{sm4}
I can not find a difference.{sm2}
For me, there are very good.
That's my opinion.
Regards.:salute::

WOW , these are some clear photo's .. Thanks for sharing .. Regards Gebhard

Yes your quite right there is French unit on the advance, I will try and post some pictures later.

Beautiful Collection and nicely set up square:smile2:....Thanks for sharing your photos...I just recieved some of the British Highlanders...Excellent Figures.....especially the flag bearers.....I missed out on the British Foot-Guards as I was collecting mostly Stalingrad at the time....Hope we will see them again in a couple of years.....First Legion Rules.

RoyalWelsh was kind enough to provide me with some larger copies of his photos for those interested in his comparison. I have posted a couple below that I think provide the best prospective.

With these larger images I think I see his point. The second wave Highlanders do appear a bit larger although the difference in head gear makes it more complicated. I can see some apparent size differences between the lots but I can't tell yet if it is problematic. Based on these photos, I am inclined to say the differences are small and well within usual human variation and internally consistent but I guess I will need to see these to be sure which I hope to do very soon.

The Gordons are my main focus this year along with cavalry to oppose.
I aim is to build 2 sides of a square , I,d love to build a full square
but space and budget will probably stop that goal depending on how
long they remain in First Legions catalogue.

Hi Rob, this is a great display, thanks for posting.

Thanks for sharing your display very impressive. Is that French Line infantry in the background.

I m hoping the Gordon Highlanders will be around for a while. First Legion offer so many different Naps, giving us collectors so much choice this I hope will keep the Gordons around longer.

I believe the next batch will be at the London show.
