While I love the look of the new forum, it seems to take longer and longer for pages to load on my browser - the latest edition of Mozilla Firefox, on a PC. (It's slow on the ipad as well, although that's harder for me to gauge).

It's not just pages with lots of photos, although that doesn't help.

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing greater lag on this one than the old board, and if so, what if anything can be done about it.

as if to underscore this, the first time I tried to post this the connection timed out...

Mark,
I noticed this also and this is a brand new laptop I got last week.

I've also noticed the slower download. Takes a lot longer to change fields or just refresh than it did before the change over. I thought it was just me.:redface2: -- Al

Yep! I prefer the old forum, easier to navigate and nicer background colours.

Gentle Friends,

I, too, have experienced slower load times. I have wondered if the slower load time was due to the fact that the new software is much more powerful than the older version. In short, I assumed there was more to be loaded when first logging on to the forum. I have no idea of my assumption has any validity. Perhaps other, more computer literate, members can provide a more complete understanding of the cause of the slower loading.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

Yep it's slower for me too. This may be a server performance issue on the site backend...

Yes - slower loading - or changing to anotherarea - also keeps asking me to log-in again every few minutes or so? johnnybach

Maybe the new software takes a lot more computing power (speed) and memory than the old program. That's what the slowness feels like to me. The server it runs on may need a faster CPU which would be expensive and many not even be technically possible, or more RAM or both. Turning off any unused features in the software may help too.

I also noticed the slower speede and when I look at your product lists like K&C it is hard to look at the 2nd or 3rd page of items. Many times I give up waiting for the next page to come up.

I can make one suggestion which may help. When someone posts photos, unless there is a direct need to quote the photos don't, as the next time you load the page it has to load the posters photos and then the quoted ones. If you are just commenting on the shots the poster will know what what you mean. If you are asking a question about a particular figure etc... in a photo then obviously quote that photo,
