Hey gang:

I used to own a playset as a young boy back in 1980-81 called Beachhead assault. It was one of the coolest toy soldier sets I ever owned. It had a playmat in which the aspiring generals placed the Americans on one side and the Germans were defending a town complete with 6-8 plastic ruined buildings. There was a river that ran between the two sides and a bridge spanned across it.

The Americans had a super weapon- a 4 pronged rocket launcher in which you placed a rocket on a post and punched down on the rocket launcher and the small puff of air would shoot the missle into the Germans and their buidlings would come crashing down. After softening the Germans up, you could then head across the bridge and lay claim to the rubble you just created.

The US also had an OD Green matchbox SPG- I believe it was made by Matchbox company. The playset was roughly scaled at 1:72nd. The details on the German soldiers was amazing- I cannot recall the Americans but the Germans were really spectacular.

Anyway- I have searched on EBay for this set to no avail- anyone out there in TF land ever heard of this set?? I'd be much obliged- for nostalgia sake- if anyone could post pics if they still have it.

Kindest regards,
CC
