This is not a provocation to start up a scale/size debate between makers as I collect from both. Given my current enjoyment for FL's early war Russian Front sets, I'm craving some more German armor to add to the battlefield and wonder how workable it would be to add a couple KC Pz.Kpfw.38(T) tanks to my collection without losing too much continuity.
I'd welcome any comments from anyone who may have one and tried the same thing before parting with my $$$. Any/all thoughts & comments appreciated.
And...embrace the grey ! :salute::

I think that they may work with FL Stalingrad in regards to size but not so much so in regards to style....The K/C tank commander available in one of the turret numbers will be a mis-match with FL Stalingrad Germans in regards to size...I almost bought these K/C tanks for use with my FL Stalingrad figures but decided against it at the last minute....However...These look like excellent early war tanks by K/C....I really then re-considered buying them to be used with my K/C "Fields of Battle"figures but got involved with other purchase choices.

I think the tanks could work fine as K&C is a pretty solid 1:30. I would probably remove any included figures due to style mismatch.

On a historical note. On June 28, 1942 (the beginning of "Fall Blau" the German summer offensive) the following units were still armed with the Pz.38(t)
8.Panzer-Division
19.Panzer-Division
20.Panzer-Division
22.Panzer-Division

I have found King and Country as well as Thomas Gunn vehicles work great with First Legion figures, since they are all a good 1/30 scale.

I recently discovered First Legion figures, and am hooked. They truly make the soldiers look real and make vehicles come to life. While KC and TGM vehicles are not quite as well detailed/painted as First Legion, for me they are good enough, and since I prefer to have more vehicles and use a few soldiers as accent pieces, it allows me to expand the collection with limited funds.

I have yet to see First Legion for sale below MSRP, but have had good luck finding KC and TGM at good prices. Case in point, the below TGM Winter Opel Blitz cost me $105. Is the First Legion truck painted/weathered a little better? Probably, but for me, the TGM truck is good enough and the $200 savings allowed me to pick up a Figarti Panzer IV.

Here is the 38T with the winter tank riders as an example.

To give you an idea of how stuff can look, here's a couple other pictures I took of FL figures with KC and TGM vehicles in another thread (along with historical photos to show the correct scale relationship). Hope these help in your decision.

I agree with you that I am buying more K&C grey vehicles to go with my First Legion figures. I would prefer a closer match in styles, but I am willing to live with it.

I know how popular the SS and Normand are, but I am disappointed that the regular army on the Eastern Front is slowing down.

Bradley, Give FL Stalingrad a try with Figarti AFV's....I think that First Legion works better with the Figarti Tigers then they do with K/C....I also hope we see more Panzer AFV's for early Stalingrad. I keep hoping for FL to do a grey Panzer IV (short gun) with more tank riders.

I was wondering how long it would take. Many collectors are concerned that the scale of the figures and AFVs be the same. People have begun to figure out that FL figures are 1:30 and work well with K&C, Figarti and TGM 1:30 AFVs. That gives collectors a much greater range of AFVs to use than FL has produced. And some of the older Figarti figures are smaller in size at about 1:30 and would work too.

Reminds me of the people I knew and know who bought K&C figures and used them with FOV armour as it was cheaper than K&C's and still is. People's tolerance is often comforted and relaxed when they can get more for their money when mixing and matching manufacturers. If you feel it works then its not an issue

Great posts everyone & thanks for your input. Mitch, thanks much for the pics, that 'seals the deal' for me on grabbing a couple 38T's. I agree with Bradley, we've seen a slowdown in the FL release rate for early war East Front German items and I hope we're in for a few surprises as the year closes out.
Cheers !
