Re: Anyone would like to see KV2 Russian tank, V2 & V1 Rockets with figures made by K

Cannot see K & C doing them, not unless they were used in Vietnam or the Pacific. Could use in the Normandy range, as there were V1 sites there, but K & C seem to be releasing less and less, more retirements this month than new stuff.

There is a lot of unsold K & C out there, just look on ebay, over 5,000 in the UK and over 22,000 worldwide, plus the 700+ sets [multiples of these] in the K & C sale. No way to know what is sitting on dealer's shelves......... then there is increased selling off of collections, big or small, for reasons of economics or people just dying and their families selling off their collections.

Too much stuff out there - I do not think this is just a K & C issue, I think F Legion are also suffering the same problem, that and they are very expensive, when compared with what else you can get for your money from J Jenkins, T Gunn and Warpark.

I think J Jenkins will suffer from the same issue, they seem to release new ranges every 2 to 3 months. I do not think the TS market is like many other markets, where releasing a new range will attract new customers, in the TS market it may attract very few, but what it does do is take money away from direct competitors, of which I am an example, now buy mainly JJ, with K & C just picking up the odd old piece I do not have. On the whole expanding ranges, without killing some off, just dilutes what people have to spend their money on, proof of this is when on this forum and ebay you see people selling off one range to fund another. One thing J Jenkins do better than others is range management, spreading collecting, but at the rate they are releasing stuff there is will be a massive glut of stuff out there and fewer people in the customer base.

Oh and on K&C there are too many errors, could expand on the new British D Day stuff, but that has been done to death, viewed it from afar, the guy was right [see he has left the forum], but people got too personal and K & C gave no answers or held his hands up and admitted the errors. There were errors, but the discussion got like the MP dead parrott sketch, the Parrott was still Dead and dispite the long, very rude, discussion, the new K & C D Day stuff has serious historical errors and equipment mistakes.

Cheers

Well, there’s a lot to unpack on this little post …but let’s begin with all of our supposed ‘many errors’ in our new D.Day British Infantry…Pray share with us all your superior knowledge and expertise.
Also…
Ever notice how some of the fiercest critics usually hide behind a ‘nom de plume’..?
All the best,
Andy.

You are 100 per cent correct Mr. Poppo…I had zero interest in a KV2 back then…I have even less now…
However, I still love T34’s and really do like T55’s!
All the best,
Andy.

I am interested to know what exactly is not historically accurate about Andy's recently released D-Day line. While I'm no history major, I am very knowledgeable in WWII history and it appears to me these figures are historically accurate to include everything right down to the uniform insignia. I am fairly new to this forum but have collected K&C for at least 10 years and have been impressed with the historical accuracy of the pieces I have collected. I can also confidently say Andy does not put out crap so please, explain these inaccuracies you mention.

There was a thread a few weeks ago on the D Day stuff, have a search, it was around the wrong Landing Craft, numbering on the LCs was not correct [did not exist] and one of the British Troops was carrying what looks like an MG42 ammo box.

This forum is full of ‘nom de plumes’ or do you think people are really called/named arnhem44mad, Dcome, desk11desk12, Doughboy, dragon53, jumpmaster, MLH13, saxon lions.

On the errors I have put them below, I followed up on the information in the previous thread from the guy, who has since left the forum, who originally criticised the D Day British releases, as the questions were not answered, there was a lot of deflection and mob attack on the person rather than the questions. Please let’s not get into that again, but since Andy asked where the errors were, see below, if I am wrong, I would be most grateful for information from Andy as K & C showing me why? As they must have done their research when creating the new LCs, surely, they just did not repaint the previous Higgin Boats and rerelease them?

[1] One of the new British D Day figures, what is the figure carrying in his right hand? Not been released yet, but there are loads of pictures of it on the forum, for further reference it is in the latest COLLECTOR Mag centre page, [which K & C kindly sent me with my last order from their sale items], figure on the ramp. Looks like a German MG 34/42 ammo box.
[2] The LCs, Higgins Boats, the error is those were not used on Sword Beach on D Day, the LCs used were LCAs, the South Lancashire regiment landed at SWORD, Queen Beach White sector at 7.25 in British LCAs. Unless of course you can prove different?
[3] The LCs identifying marking numbers, where did the number comes from, as I cannot find where they relate to actual numbers [LCVp1335 and LCVp1324] used on D Day LCs. The numbering of the LCs unused in Operation Neptune are easily available and I cannot find these numbers?
[4] Sherman Tracks, extra armour, all over the Sherman Firefly, the British did not do this, the ones I have found pictures of are Canadian.

The above is not ‘greater knowledge’ [nice bit of sarcasm in your reply there], to use a phase I have seen on the forum, they ‘hide the information in books’.

Andy, please answer the questions, instead of resorting to sarcasm and deflection, which is your normal ‘modus of operandi’.

PS: Just "modus operandi" is the correct form.

Cheers, i bow my head in shame, my old Latin tutor would have hit across the head for such as error, i can blame a simply typo, but still not good enough. I admit my error, but that encapulates the discussion, you make an error, you are corrected and you admit it and move on. Which i have done, now all we wait for is the reply from Andy..............................

Poppo - i would buy you a drink, beer, coffee or tea if we were in person.

Andy,

I hope you know that one, petty, malcontent doesn't speak for all your customers. You put out amazing figures and vehicles that I buy every month because they look awesome and looking at them makes me happy. I could care less if some "Karen" is triggered because he doesn't think a bootlace is the right shade on a figure :rolleyes2: You don't owe anyone an explanation. K&C is getting better and better as time goes on. Keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep buying it! :)

Re: Anyone would like to see KV2 Russian tank, V2 & V1 Rockets with figures made by K

I think the V2 just takes up to much room for me, if vertical it means you need a high shelf and horizontally it takes up a lot of display space for what is essentially a tube. The V2 and V1 are also hard to use in a diorama, you have to have a lot of other bits and bobs around, such as if 'in transport' there needs a trailer and a towing vehicle etc, if insitu for launch you need a launch platform etc. Those extra bits/bobs, crew etc are single use and would not sell in multiples.
I think the main reason are there are plenty out there already, the Figarti ones come up for sale quite often and there are plenty of plastic kit versions, secondly, there are plenty of other more profitable things to manufacture for TS companies, for a start think of the box size for a V2 and the transport costs for the manufactures in the finished boxes and also the postage costs for a box that size, as you essentially are shipping free air. Dispite me being negative about some of the accuracy of K & C in this thread i do think people like Andy at K & C, Blake at T Gunn and John at John Jenkins know best what will sell and in a way are more commited to Toy Soldiers than mere collectors like myself. It is their livelihood.

On the KV2 or KV1, once again a big bit of kit, heavy and a considerably sized box, when there are easier and more cost effective [in terms of general business costs] to release. Plus would it sell? I do not think in the volumes that would make it viable, when looking at the two tanks, there are few viable and many one off pieces to be cast [which is not cheap] and whereas if you produce a more generic tank those expensive casts can be reused. I'd love to see a German Dicker Max, a Bison, US M8 or a British Archer, but know unlikely as the cost to design and produce would not be met by sale, with an exception, i think, the M8 would sell and K & C already do the base of the vehicle and the turret could be used for the pacific thearte in making an LTV.

Plus we, this is a broadbrush statement, as collectors love a tank with a cross/swastika on it. Its an obsession there seems to be in the collecting community, so Tigers, Panthers, etc always sell. On that i would like to see a repaint of the Elefant, remove the front MG, change the commanders hatch and release for Kursk.

Cheers Guys, stay safe.

Re: Anyone would like to see KV2 Russian tank, V2 & V1 Rockets with figures made by K

I bought a kv2 from matt at hobby bunker, i think it came from the figarti folks . I love it. But i would rather see andy do the opel maultier in the different theaters of war- normandy, italy or winter version. I would also like to see the mid range marder like the one used at kharkov where the gun and shield are more middle to front. Also the 12th ss used alot of italian trucks in normandy so those would be cool too. Lastly some luftwaffe airport vehicles like a fuel bowser for instance with crew.
