The largest engagement with French and Indian forces in Virginia occurred near Fort Edwards. From this fort on April 18, 1756, a group of 60 soldiers, led by Lt. John Fenton Mercer, of Col. Washington's Virginia Regiment went in pursuit of what they thought were a few Indians. Much to their dismay they stumbled into an ambush near the Cacapon River of over 100 French and Indian raiders. The ambush killed Lt. Mercer, Ensign Thomas Carter and seventeen men and sent chills throughout the western Virginia frontier.

Again thank you for illustrating these events of the FIW with your scenes.
Keep them coming. Tell the Mrs. that you are educating your fellow collectors and that it is a worthwhile hobby. It's not just grown men playing with toys. And you know that education can always use more funding for teaching aids like your JJ sets.:D
