I have photos of 3 figures, 54MM - 2 British guards with banners, another British from the FIW or SYW period. No identification on them. Does anyone know what brand these could be? Thanks.

I can't speak for the Grenadier Guards in bearskins, though the bases don't look to me like Britain's shape for bases. But the grenadier circa 1756 is most definitely not a Britain figure. Britain never made any figures like that. Is it a solid-cast piece, too? How big is it? It looks a little smaller than 54mm, even the classic 54mm.

Prost!

Brad, The 1756 figure is one piece. It is slightly smaller than typical Britains, see new photo next to a Britains figure.

The figures in Bearskins have a right arm that is hinged. I believe Britains made such figures with hinged arms.

I'd call 1756 grenadier a 45mm figure, though whoever made it may have have called it 54mm. It's definitely not a Britains figure, old or new. The closest thing I've ever seen is Authenticast, but I won't say it's an Authenticast figure, either. It doesn't look to me like Holger Erickson's style of sculpting.

As for the other two, if there are no marks under the base, no raised lettering with "Copyright", "Made in England", or similar marks we can see with Britain's toy soldiers, then I don't think they're Britains, either. Are they hollow or solid?

Prost!

The figures with bearskins may be copies. The painting doesn't look like Britains and appears to be to new.

The figures are solid. I don't think they're Britains either. The faces are very simplistic. And now that I look at them more closely they look like they could be hand painted. Maybe they were home cast.

Yes, given that they're solid, homecast copies of commercial figures is a definite possibility.

Prost!
