Are these really K&C? (1 Viewer)

the one on the right is an old Imrie-Risley casting from their knights series

the one on the left is frome New Hope designs and also out of production

evedently this guys "little bit of research" did not exceed reading the outside

of the boxes he got them in.

So these are not K&C or even close they are home painted castings from two

different companies not even remotely affiliated to K&C and as such......well

just dont bid on em.

I noticed these the day they were listed and just shock my head and chuckled to myself. You would think a seller would be better informed before listing an item. Cerainly makes him look a wee bit foolish.

The auction has ended early. The official announcement says:
"The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing."

Hmmm. I thought the listing looked a bit fishy. The seller had several other bogus looking K&C toy soldier listings.

I sent the seller a copy of the second post on this thread. He seems to have taken the hint.

Got the following response from the seller. Seems sincere. In these times, one must be especially careful.

"Thanks for the info. i should have did more research and not follow what the box said. I really do not want to be misleading and sell a product that not what it suppose to be,that not at all what i am all about. I took the items off. Thanks AGAIN THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER. Ray"

Well in that case I am glad I posted here and am further glad you took the initiative to contact the seller, Rutledge.

No problem at all AIXrUS. You and your eagle eye were what got it all started. So big thanks for being so alert and having the presence to raise the issue here.

Also thanks to Compton for sharing his deep knowledge.

Great job by all, see what a little team work can do! :)

Andy owes you too for protecting his brand image!

Well, let's be a little charitable to the seller-whom I do not know, and to whose auction I have no connection-as soon as the error was pointed out, he pulled the auction and relisted these, and other I/R figures in K&C boxes, with the correct info.

Many sellers on eBay aren't specialists, but sell lots that they pick up at estate sales, yards sales, and other auctions. I looked at this guy's other auctions, and it doesn't look like he normally deals in toy soldiers.

Sometimes I'll send an eBay message to the seller, if I spot something mis-identified, but other times, I'll let it go, telling myself that the collectors out there will know what they're looking at.

It's nice to deal with someone who knows what he's selling, of course, but on the other hand, it's up to the buyer to educate himself about what he's buying. Caveat emptor is as true today as when the Romans coined it.

Anyway, this isn't meant as a shot at you guys, either, just wanted to give the seller the benefit of the doubt.

Prost!
Brad

Just FYI, I didnt accuse the seller of fraud. I just kindly informed him of the correct identity of his pieces, via the information from Compton.

He had good bids on the figures, up to around $45, before taking them down.

You may be right about it being an honest mistake. However, it still seems a bit suspicious to me. He had no problem identifying the correct maker of his OTHER toy soldier auctions, also originally presented falsely as K&C, once he was called out. Also, nice K&C boxes dont just fall out of the sky. Those had to come from somewhere. Curiously, they remained with the figures even after he reposted the figures correctly.

I dont know how you read it, but his grammer was so bad it almost sounded like he was playing it up for effect:

"i should have did more research..."

Whatever, dont guess it really matters.
