Like we say in the South - "Every Onion has many Peels" ;)

Actually Rin I thought Shrek told Donkey that. He said "Ogres are like onions They have layers."

I use anything , metal, plastic, factory painted, kits , whatever goes with my collections and are at least close to 54mm /1 32.70mm a bit too big but I do have lots of K/C and Del Prado cavalry for my Napoleonics.Always on the lookout for something to add.The more variety the better, rank on rank of the same figure works for me too.I don't care who made them or really what they are made of as long as they are not brittle or flimsy.
Of course I do have gobbs of stuf to paint .Some I picked up years ago .

FubArrrrrrr:rolleyes:

Fubar reminded me that I do also have Del Prado figures as well in my Napoleonic Dioramas !! ;)

I have drifted around at times, but usually around building armies of specific favorite periods. I collect multiple manufacturers, but try to pick those that look good together and have stayed with plastics. As an example, in my American Civil War army, I have Britains Swoppets, Herald, Deetail and many other company figures that I have painted myself (like Accurate, Imex, etc). The overall effect tends to more realistic, so I have sold off all the various Timpo ACW swoppet types, even though I like them, because they just stand out like a sore thumb. Many look just too plain goofy, like they are doing deep knee bends or something.

My main occupation with them is continually & often uselessly changing how I store them and sometimes setting them up in a battle scene. My son & friends will sometimes fight a battle with them, but I just like setting them up in different formations. The current lineup (60-70mm) is:

Ancient Greeks & Romans

Medieval Armies, including various Knights, Vikings, Saracens & Crusaders

American Revolution

American Civil War

World War II Allies & Axis

Lord of the Rings

I also have 20mm Napoleonic armies

For me it's Britains and only Britains. If they made it I will buy it (assuming I have the money  )

Currently my collection consists of

Zoo - lead & plastic
Farm - lead & plastic
Ceremonial pieces (coaches, carriages, household cavalry-some plastic)
Circus
Railway staff
Tractors & machinery

My first Britains ever (when I was about 10 maybe) were a small boxed set of Herald Life & Horse Guards, that a friend of the family brought back from a trip to England. Up to that I had only unpainted USA figures like Timmee and Marx.

I traded them for some ACW swoppets a few years later.

But I guess the seed was sown & 35 years later I started to collect them again. I have about 200 altogether now with highlanders and Guards, all Herald & I really enjoy setting them up into a formation every few months. My only non-fighting subject ever. My favorite uniform is the Lifeguards.

I currently only have 3 Scots Guard, Lifeguard & a Horseguard standard bearer, all on horseback.
