Hi

I have nearly finished painting the new AIP set of a British gatling gun and crew. Has anyone else aquired this set and their views? It is mainly for the period Zulu War 1879 - Egyptian -Sudanese campaigns 1882-1885-ish.

You get a 5 man crew but two are firing rifles which seems a waste as I would have preferred all 5 to have been in action with regard to the gatling gun directly. They are all in shirt sleeve order.
There is another similar set with a field gun but I havent painted it just yet. The gun has the same crew poses except for 1 man being different in each set.
I will post a photo via photobucket when its fully completed etc...

Its a nice looking set a great addition to there Boer War range.
I rather like Armies in Plastic i think they offer good value plus there weapons are never bendy and no excess plastic to shave off.
AIP are in my top 3 for plastic brands .
9th hussar looking forward to seing your paint job on this set....Do you ever set up dio's with your painted troops?

I'm planning on putting the 2 men with rifles in the defense of the Legations in Peking 1900.

How many guys would work the Gatling gun anyway? Having two guys shooting might not be a bad thing.
Maybe the gun jammed with enemy troops right on top so they grab some rifles .

I checked the AIP set and could not locate the field gun set you mention. What war is it listed under?

Its on there front page under new set or scroll down there listings for sets and click on Boer War.

Rob,
They are only showing the Gatling for all the wars including the Boer War. No photo of artillery set with different crew member that 9th Hussar refers to?

This is the photo used for all sets

It's the NY company...I don't get it either, I think Steve Weston has them as future release.

Hi RAGNAR
hope to make dio's layouts in the future in 28mm Perry/Victrix plastics and 1/32nd Napoleonics and maybe ACW

I do want to make/convert figures for the Crimean War in 1/32nd scale, but its not easy with no standard figures available (out of the box) apart from hat zouaves maybe. I have made some British guards in bearskins out of Accurate/Imex Confederates wearing greatcoats as a start
