I was researching the history of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards during the Seven Years War (1756-1763) in Europe and found that they were stationed in Germany. In my research I found the painting below depicting British soldiers from that era. I just received my 1st Foot Guard Mounted Officer today and the painting inspired my diorama.

Very nice PolarBear. The resemblance to the 18th century painting is uncany. Well done. Russell

The nice thing about the horse and rider is that the latter may be removed such as in this scene where we see a private of the 1st Foot tending to his officer's horse while he attends a meeting in the tent.

Nice tableaux! I haven't gotten the mounted officer yet, and your pics are making me lick my lips in anticipation.

Prost!

Randy,

These are very nice figures and I like the idea of the seperate horse and rider.

Randy,
I said it several times before when you were posting your diorama pictures but here it comes again.
These two are your best shots yet. Great work and a pleasure to look at.
Can only hope that this mounted Officer will be the first one of many more mounted troops to come in the Classic series.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Great work, Randy, and truly inspirational!! Those figures are exceptional and I too want to see more of them.

I think most of Britains horses have always had separate riders. With the exceptions of the hollow cast (and any derivatives thereof). I think the best thing is that the horse is at the halt. Another great snapshot Randy !!!!

Great photos you capture the feel of the painting perfectly! Cant wait to get the mouted officer looks like a great addition to the FIW series

Perhaps wbritain's could bring out some gloss soldiers with dogs & other regimental mascots? Maybe they could call it the "fur coats" collection? lol :D

yes i think so!!! lol on a more serious note though i think a mascot & handler range would be a great addition to the redcoats collection

My 1st 2 suggestions:
