The Irish guard's first wolfhound was presented in 1902 by the Irish Wolfhound Club, which hoped the gesture would help raise the profile of this great breed of hound and encourage more people to become owners.

On arrival the dog, which was called Rajah of Kidnal, was allocated regimental number 1463 and swiftly rechristened Brian Boru after Ireland's greatest national hero. Naturally enough, among the regiment's Micks he was known affectionately as Paddy.

Yes a Mascot and handler series would be nice. I know that they were usually included in boxed sets for years past. It would be nice to have them on their own though.

I own most of the limited edition sets & i believe iv got all the Mascot one's? i wasnt that impressed with the last set the irish guards but the earlier 1's were rather good! with the improved quality in Wbritains redcoats series i think that a new take on these would be a rather good idea???

The mounted officer is great. I'm hoping for a petticoat rider to accompany him.

Randy

Another great piece of work, Randy.

I have not seen any petticoat riders of this period to match this fine mounted officer by WB.

You may have to wait for WB to come up with a new series "Petticoats on Horseback".

A mounted officer and his petticoat rider friend riding together in the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace is well worth waiting for.

Best, Raymond.

I fully agree and believe there will be some petticoats on horseback. Even better would be one on a camel:)

Hi Randy,

Here are some images of Blenheim Palace which is one of my favourite places to visit in England.

Best, Raymond
