A set-up featuring the three Union gun crews in my collection. (Since taking these photos, I've added 31056 "Loading Canister" to my artillery park.)
Coincidentally, these sets feature the three main cannon of the Civil War, left to right: the 10-lb Parrott gun, crewed by WB's Old Northwest Trading Co. cousins (Loomis's Battery); the 12-lb Napoleon (31097 "Make Ready"), and the 3-in Ordnance rifle (31148 "Running Up"). Because the crews are all manning different guns, I decided the back-story was this is a field trial testing the capabilities of the three guns.
The Parrott and Napoleon crews prepare their pieces, while the Ordnance rifle crew (late to the game?) run up their gun. The field trial is overseen by a staff officer, assisted by an artilleryman. Two infantry officers, enjoying a companionable smoke, have paused to watch the proceedings. Each of the WB crews is augmented by an extra artillery pose.

This set-up includes some of my favorite reasons for collecting Britains: the gun crew sets, the extra artillerymen, and the new camp poses.

The #2 crewmen from the ONTC and WB guns size up the competition.
