Oops ..... better get the 'health and safety' officer on this gun line ....{eek3} {eek3}

the gunner kneeling in the trail is about to get his head knocked off with the recoil ...... !!!!!

the ammunition loader should be on the left hand side of the gun (facing the enemy) and the Bdr with the rammer is on the right hand side, he operates the breech......

also the gun tractor shouldn't be on the gun line, makes a great target, especially with its fuel, and the limber opens at the back to get out the ammo, so turn it around .....

apart from that, great diorama, nice grass and bushes ...

By the way, I served on these guns in the 1970's ....

I plead guilty, John!
I 've just put some figs around the gun without having a clue...
It's fine to have a pro in our group: remarks well taken:eek:

Hi everyone,

as can you see below, italian heavy artillery gun in action!!! {sm2} The Ansaldo 149/40 gun was called " Bardia Bill" in North Africa (world war II). As far as I know, the name "Bardia Bill" is applied to the gun or guns under Italian gunners, that were in Bardia at the time of it's capture by the Australian 6th Infantry Division.

"TOBRUK, LIBYA. 1942. "BARDIA BILL" WAS A NICKNAME GIVEN FIRST TO A BATTERY OF ITALIAN MEDIUM GUNS WHICH FROM A POSITION SOUTH OF BARDIA FIRED ON THE AUSTRALIAN POSITIONS NEAR SALUM, BEFORE THE CAPTURE OF BARDIA BY 6TH AUSTRALIAN DIVISION. LATER IN THE CAMPAIGN THE SAME APPELLATION WAS GIVEN TO THIS GUN, ALSO ITALIAN, WHICH WAS USED AGAINST THE AUSTRALIAN FORCES BESIEGED IN TOBRUK".

Best regards

Enrico :rolleyes2:

Sorry I'm late to the party - but our favourite photo-store didn't want to play with me again yesterday.

I had to download the pic to myself - so that I could retrieve it and post it - Figures are mostly from Prince August.
